Reading helps to develop a young child's brain. In the first six years, children learn at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives. Vital connections in the brain are made very early in life. Reading opens the door to your child's early academic success, imparts a love of learning and leads to understanding. When children learn to read at an early age, they have greater general knowledge, expand their vocabulary and become more fluent readers. They also have improved attention spans and better concentration. Early readers can recognize a larger number of words by sight, which enables them to learn more from and about their environment.

To learn to read English, the child must figure out the relationship between sounds and letters as well as how those sounds fit together. In this early readers class, learners will learn how letter sounds fit together to form words. Learners with learn to make cvc (consonant vowel consonant) words, CCVC (consonant consonant vowel consonant) and read them in basic stories. Students will also learn to read and recognize basic sight words words including: the, a, on, and, by, with, in, are.

Week 1: IG words -PIG, BIG, DIG, JIG, ZIG,
Week 2: ET words - PET, VET, NET, WET and review
Week 3: UG words - TUG, BUG, HUG, RUG, and review

Each week learners will practice the blended words and take turns reading fun stories using cvc and ccvc words to make short sentences. These stories are fun with pictures and rhyming. Students will never get bored but will learn that reading can be fun. This class is meant to be a starting point for early readers that know their letter sounds but don't know how to put them together to make words. I hope your learner will join me for Early Readers class!

As a father to an active 5 year old, I know that learning must be fun. Starting to read early puts your child ahead and helps them start off succeeding. I have a BA in Student Ministry with over a decade experience teaching children and teens. I have taught over 1500 phonics classes on online platforms and pride myself on never letting kids get bored yet always be learning.
