Early reading skills such as word segmenting and blending will be explore through fun and exciting music activities. Research has shown that music is a highly effective modality of learning that helps students learn and retain academic skills. Reading skills are better solidified when used within a context. Pout Pout Fish in a singable format will be used to practice and apply reading skills, along with practicing other components of early literacy such as reading comprehension, prediction and recall. In this unique class style, the student will practice letter sounds, blending sounds to make words, and reading the words- all housed in a fun song! To check for reading comprehension and understanding, the teacher will ask WH questions as we sing and read together.  Your student will experience a well-rounded, multimodal class that will prosper a love for reading, learning and music!
