Dungeons and Dragons has been around for about 50 years. I have played since the 1980's, beginning with the original red boxed set and through each of the editions. I can play or DM any version of the Dungeons & Dragons as well as several other RPG's. I want to introduce the game to new players, and have been playing with my 13 year-old twin sons and their friends for years. This is a one-day course created to: - Explain what Role Playing Games (RPG's) are. - Give a short history of Dungeons and Dragons. - Introduce the 5th Edition Character Sheet and what all the sections and numbers mean. - Run a simple encounter using pre-generated characters to let the students get a feel for how to use the character sheets. We will NOT be creating a character during this time. We will NOT be starting a new campaign or on-going game. (Although I will be adding more classes that will do these things.) New Class Title NOTE: I added a second version of this class for younger learners and added the 'teen' tag to this title. If you have a younger student, but 'liked' this class to bookmark it for later I am sorry for any confusion. I was getting many requests for younger students, so I hope you will find the newer section I made to accommodate the requests for 9 to12-year-olds.

GOOD vs EVIL
- Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game. While my games will always have the players being on the side of good, each student makes their own decisions on what their character does during the game. Outside of Outschool, players and DM's (Dungeon Masters) may choose scenarios where their characters are not 'good' in nature. This class teaches the basic game mechanics. What your student does with this knowledge in the future is up to them.
RELIGION
- Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game. In this game there are large pantheons of made-up deities. This is not intended to mimic any real-world religion. Some parents may be uncomfortable with characters that 'worship' a make-believe god. If this is the case, please let your student know not to play a cleric or paladin. Also, some characters get powers granted to them by an outsider (good, neutral, or evil). In my game all outsiders will be good. If you would rather avoid this, please do not play a warlock.
Lista de útiles escolares
- If they already own a set of polyhedral dice they should bring them, but you don't need to buy new ones. - If they already own a D&D 5e Players Handbook (or Starter Set, or Essentials Set) they should bring them, but you don't need to buy new ones.
