Dungeons & Dragons has proven to be highly beneficial in supporting social and emotional growth for neurodivergent children, as well as those with IEPs or 504 plans. By emphasizing patience, positive reinforcement, and active participation, the game encourages children to develop critical thinking skills, enhance communication abilities, and learn to navigate complex emotions in a safe, structured environment. The fantasy-based nature of D&D provides a creative outlet for children to explore their identities and practice real-world interactions in a low-pressure setting.

Additionally, D&D offers a valuable opportunity for emotional regulation, allowing children to express and manage their feelings through character-driven scenarios. It promotes social interaction with new people in a safe, judgment-free zone, offering a break from daily pressures and obligations. The bonds and friendships formed within the game’s community foster acceptance and a shared enthusiasm for storytelling, making it a vital element in a child's personal growth and development.

Orientación para padres
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence.
