45 minutos horas de clase por semanaTarea
1 hora por semana. My intention is for students to have some time each week in class to work on their drawings in addition to instruction and critique. Students may want to work on their creations outside of class. There is no requirement to complete homework each week, but how great would it be for young artists to round off the hour with 15 minutes of additional drawing outside of the club time!Evaluación
Assessment is achieved through weekly class critique and feedback provided by both students and the instructor.Experiencia de clase
In this ongoing club we will practice drawing from imagination, learn to generate and develop ideas for the sci-fi and fantasy genre of D&D style tabletop games (including environments, creatures, characters and components), receive inspiration, learn drawing techniques, practice an artistic process, as well as improve through discussion and critiques. What we'll accomplish... We'll create resources that can be used in actual D&D or other sci-fi and fantasy tabletop games, or just for the enjoyment of illustrating student's imaginary worlds. Students will understand the value of brining ideas to life on paper through visual problem solving. Class Structure 15 min - Introduction and design overview of a new process, technique and/or principle to explore through our drawings 15 min - Demonstration and draw-along implementing concepts from the design overview 15 min - Student project work time, one-on-one and group discussion and critique *Week-by-Week Week 1 - Building Fantastic Worlds Learn about the creative process, line quality in drawing Build an Idea Web and generate possibilities for a fantasy world Implement those ideas through the creation of a world map Student project work time Present and Discuss our fantasy world maps in progress Week 2 - Creatures of the Fantastic World Learn about element and/or principle of design like shape and balance then get inspired by animals in the real world Do a drawing exercise combining features of various real world animals into one imaginary creature Practice techniques that help bring our drawings to completion Student Project work time Present and Discuss our fantasy creatures in progress *this represents a possible weekly rotation schedule and not necessarily the actual club schedule Your student's input provides direction for accomplishing individual goals from week to week, so let's plan to keep an open and active chat space.

Orientación para padres
Parents should know that we'll be drawing all sorts of monsters, dragons and other creatures. Tabletop RPG's (Role Playing Games) often contain sci-fi and/or fantasy violence, however OUR emphasis will be the beauty of these imaginary worlds, not on violent situations or conditions. Although characters in these game worlds often wield powerful weapons, the club environment will discourage the depiction of violence through the use of these elements.
Lista de útiles escolares
We'll plan to create using a variety of unique supplies with the understanding that each student has their own favorite mediums and materials they like to work with. We can accomplish a lot with a number 2 pencil and/or a ball point pen on printer paper! The supply list below is only a suggestion of possibilities. Pencils (4H and HB) Eraser (vinyl and/or kneaded) Paper (printer paper, sketchbook or other plain paper) Pens (fine line ink pen 005, 01, 03, 05, 08, brush pen, ballpoint pen) Markers (water or alcohol based) Watercolor Brushes iPad (Procreate App) Apple Pencil
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
