Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! I am Miss Erin. I have been teaching in private and public schools for 5 years. I am certified to teach K-5 in Tennessee and K-6 in Florida with an ESOL endorsement. I taught 3rd grade for 2 years and am in my 3rd year in 2nd grade, teaching all subjects. I have also directed a summer camp for about 100 kids ages 5-12 for 3 years and tutored privately and for a district after school program for 9 years.

I primarily teach creative writing classes because it is something I am passionate about. I love seeing students enjoy growing as writers while using their imaginations! I believe every child can be a successful writer and story teller. I want kids to know that grammar and spelling are not what make a good writer. I hope to encourage their creativity and boundless imaginations through storytelling!

It is always a priority that students will comfortable and safe to share their work. It can be intimidating to share something that feels so personal. My students will know that we are all there to learn, grow, and enjoy ourselves. Therefore, we are a team and we support and encourage each other.

My classes will rely on 2 main pillars- discussion and practice. While we will spend time analyzing examples and non-examples, the discussion surrounding these is what will grow our understanding. The application is what will grow our performance. We will apply the skills learned through games and, of course, through writing.

Other than teaching, I love reading, watching movies, cooking, and going on adventures. I especially love theme parks and roller coasters and definitely miss living close to so many in Florida! Movie nights are my favorite way to spend a free evening and my favorite snack is movie theater popcorn.
I have 2 cats, Alfie and Olive, who are likely to show up in some classes at some point. They provide constant entertainment.

Norms I set for my classes include, but are not limited to:
1) We will wait our turn to speak.
2) We will discuss each other’s writing with respect.
3) We will participate in the activities.
4) We will try our best.
5) We will be open to improvement.

Professional norms I uphold include:
1) I will contact parents/learners to let them know if they are the only learner in a class or it does not meet the minimum enrollment. This way they can choose to proceed or to move to a different section.
2) I will start class promptly to respect everyone’s time.
3) If class begins and there are no learners present, I will wait 10 minutes before ending class.
4) I will post class recordings in the classroom as soon as possible.
5) I will do my best to keep classes at the exact amount of time listed, however, some may be a few minutes over or under depending on participation.
