Experiencia de clase

In this D&D Teaching Campaign, your child will learn a lot more about how to manage high levelled D&D characters, large-scale D&D fictional conflicts and war, and how to work together to decide what side of the conflict they wish to be a part of. A lot of this campaign is travelling to fictional places to listen to all sides of the conflict and prevent the worst case scenario from happening: the newly built fictional city of Leilon from being destroyed once again. The class will be structured in the following way: each session will begin with a check in with the learners, recap of the previous session, and then picking up in the story from where we last left off. Not every session will involve fictional conflict or fighting, I, instead, encourage learners to have sessions where they travel and talk to fictional characters, talk amongst themselves to see what they should do next in the story, and more. All aspects of a typical D&D game will be explored from learning the traveling rules of D&D, to acting with other characters, gathering information, resolving conflicts, and sometimes even starting conflicts themselves! My teaching style is to ensure everyone in the class has an opportunity to participate based on what I know about their characters and what they hope to do in the game as well. I also encourage conversations between each learner about the game, asking questions to each other or myself as the teacher, and to ensure the learner knows what is happening. If your child needs to miss a week of class- I also ask parents to send a message at least 24 hours prior to the class so I can adjust the plans where necessary.

Here is a breakdown of what will roughly happen in each week of the class. Session titles are vague as D&D is a very impromptu, quick changing game where sometimes we may not reach that point or reach that point a lot faster than anticipated.

Week 1, Oct 7th: Setting up the campaign setting and learning what the players want in this game
Week 2, Oct 14th: Beginning the adventure and arriving to Leilon
Week 3, Oct 21st: Learning about the regions and the conflict surrounding Leilon
Week 4, Oct 28th: Deciding the next steps
Week 5, Nov 4th: Travelling to Region 1 Storm Lord's Domain
Week 6, Nov 11th: Learning the Storm Lord's side
Week 7, Nov 18th: Travelling to Region 2, Cultists and More
Week 8, Nov 25th: Learning their side and perspective
Week 9, Dec 2nd: Who to side with and how to help
Week 10, Dec 9th: Putting things into place and preparing
Week 11, Dec 16th: Final Battle begins
Week 12, Dec 23rd: Battle Continues
Week 13, Dec 30th: Battle wraps up, who is leading Leilon?
Week 14, Jan 6th: Final rewards, titles declared, where to next?

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will learn how to work together through communication, decision making, and cooperation skills via playing the game and going through the adventure. Students will learn how to manage information and how to choose what skills, spells, and items to use in certain situations that need them. Students will continue to develop their information processing skills as they are managing more information about their characters, the D&D setting and world, as well as keeping track of the story of the game.

Orientación para padres
In most Dungeons and Dragons games there are elements of violence and some mature content. In this particular D&D story, there are elements of fantasy wars and political alliances that do no reflect anything in the real world, it is all made up, all fiction, and will not affect any one's decisions or personal beliefs. I will keep descriptions of the conflict to a minimum so not to scare anyone or freak anyone out. As this game is a creative game, there is no login information required to be shared so all learner's personal information will be protected. Remember, this is a fake game that does not require any actual violence or anything else that is questionable, it is all theatre of the mind, imaginative, and fiction.
Lista de útiles escolares
Students will need to have a level 13 character in order to participate in this class. Characters can be made on D&D Beyond, physical character sheets, or any other source to keep track of their character's abilities, items, spells, and more. It is also suggested, but not required, that students have a notebook, pen/pencil, in order to keep track of the story and the game itself. As for dice, if your child has a set of D&D dice already, that is wonderful, but if they do not, that is no issue as online dice rollers exist and I can provide them with that resource.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Fuentes
All sources are coming from a campaign setting book that I have and will create maps and things from. Your child does not need the book themselves to follow along as I will have everything prepped for them, plus if they did buy the campaign Divine Contention, they will know a lot of spoilers and be influenced in the wrong direction.

Hello! My name is Violet Wallace and I teach a variety of subjects and topics from debate and persuasion to character building, and even Dungeons and Dragons! When it comes to my teaching career, I have taught full time for 3 years now; one year in Canada in Adult Education teaching English Language Arts and Computer Studies and two years in the UK covering subjects from English Language Arts, Religious Studies, Photography, French, Spanish, and a bit of Biology! I believe that teachers need to be passionate about what they teach, caring and understanding to their students, and to be the best mentors/support systems they can be for their students. Progress is important and if we are having fun while being challenged along the way, a lot of growth will happen naturally in the classroom. I also have a pet cat named Wasabi who may make the occasional appearance in class!
