1-2 horas por semana. Each module, students will be asked to take what they have learned and apply it to an activity. Such an activity would be the final project of 'discovering' their own deep-sea creature. This would include having them describe what zone of the ocean their discovery lives in and what adaptations it has that allows it to live there. This would be posted in the classroom for feedback from the teacher. Another activity would be being assigned to look at something about a certain marine protected area and writing a few sentences answering a prompt. There will also be weekly printouts to reinforce facts and vocabulary learned, including a crossword puzzle and search-a-word. (While they are not required for the non-graded option, they are highly encouraged.)Evaluación
There are Quizziz review quizzes for each module that the student can take. (While they are not required for the non-graded option, they are highly encouraged.)Letra de calificación
Let me know if you would like grades, or just a certificate of completion. Every week/module there are worksheets (search-a-word and crossword puzzle), a mini activity, and a Quizizz to complete. The worksheets are worth one point each. The mini activity is worth 2 points. For the quiz, each question in the quiz is worth 1 point (points vary per module). The grade in the class will be based on the total number of points. All the students who participate will also receive a certificate of completion.Experiencia de clase

In this 9-module self paced class, we will dive... deep down into the depths of the ocean. We will look at a variety of animals that can be found in the deep-sea, scouring the globe. Using a combination of slides, photos, videos, quizzes, and other interactive activities we will learn about these fascinating (and sometimes frightening!) animals. We will start by reviewing the different zones of the ocean and what makes each zone unique. That will help us in understanding the animals that live in these zones and the unique adaptations they have in order to do so. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. I respond to all comments and submissions your students placed in my classroom, and I am readily available to answer any questions either by posts/messaging on Outschool, or by an arranged meeting if needed. I usually respond within 1-2 days. The homework for each module is required to have a photo taken of it and posted in the classroom and feedback will be provided. At the end of each module there will be a Quizziz quiz posted as a review. In this self paced class, each module students will look at 8 different deep-sea creatures and will end up covering 72 animals. I will be providing a module specific Canva link for the slide presentation after the class video and Quizziz for interactive quizzes. No signup is necessary. The student will be provided a code/link before class which they can use to go directly to my classwork. We will also be viewing a few videos from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Nautilus Live, and Schmidt Ocean Institute YouTube channel that pertain to the animals being discussed. There will also be printouts to reinforce facts and vocabulary learned. Includes a crossword puzzle and search-a-word.
