Experiencia de clase

Does your child love D&D or RPG games? Then they will love this creative and fun weekly class where students with special needs will connect socially while playing a D&D inspired game called Monsters of the Week, which has a similar flare to media like Gravity Falls, Scooby-Doo and Stranger Things. This game system is quick to learn and easy to play and involves significantly less dice rolling/math than traditional D&D. The unlimited goal is for the players to engage with the fantasy world, each other and the teacher to play out fun, exciting and collaborative stories. This game system is designed for one shots, so every session will be different. Returning players and new players alike will always have a fresh, new adventure waiting for them. Despite the game's name (Monster of the Week), the "Guild" that will serve as the player's home base needs a lot more help than just fighting monsters. Players might explore abandoned ruins in the forest, delve into underground labyrinths in search of treasure, or explore magical swamps for rare, valuable herbs. Each session will be unique and goals can change fluidly during a session, based on the adventure's play style.

Each 1-shot game will begin and end in the same session, and each session will start and finish in the same home base. Returning players might become familiar with the home-base, but after a while, the game setting will continuously change in response to students' choices along the way.

RPG guidelines will be reviewed with the students before each class meeting, and are designed to help students practice appropriate social skills while playing. Students will have the opportunity to create their character at the beginning of each session, play as themself (with powers!), or play as a ready-made characters created ahead of time by the teacher. No matter their choice during character creation, each player will get a chance to shine, collaborate with their teammates, and make changes to the world around them. PG guidelines will be reviewed with the students before each class meeting and are designed to help students practice appropriate social skills while playing.

This is a small class size of 3-5 learners.
