In this course, students will be introduced (or reintroduced) to the idea of blending sounds together to make words. We will do this phonologically(with no letters visible) first and then using phonics to read CVC words. CVC words are words created using a consonant, a vowel, and then a consonant. A vowel is A, E, I, O, or U. Examples of CVC words include bug, cat, pig, dog, leg, etc. Some students can say the sounds but may have trouble blending the sounds together to read words. General Class Outline 1. Welcome/Introductions 2. Phonological Awareness warm up 3. Phonics review game 4. Blending sounds and singing vowels 5. Review Game I use an 'I do, we do, you do' model to facilitate growing independence in this skill. I firmly believe with the right support students can achieve anything, and I am here to help them be successful. I have experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each learner and can provide supports to help students access this skill.
