Welcome to this crochet club for beginners! In this weekly club, we will get together, chat about our week, and learn some fun crochet stitches. There is no set curriculum, so you can just turn up with your yarn and hooks and get stuck in. Some of the things we might learn together are: - Creating a chain and foundation row - Single crochet stitches, and building a swatch piece - Double crochet stitches, and creating a mixed-stitch swatch - Learning to crochet in the round, creating a simple flower - Learning exciting new stitches, such as popcorn stitch or loop stitch Here’s a little sample of what to expect each week: We start by welcoming everyone, including any new members, and share anything we might have been working on that week with our crocheting. If we have any new people, we might look at how to start crocheting with a chain or simple stitch, but if we are all confident with this, we might learn a new type of stitch and experiment with creating something simple, like a granny square or a flower. Sometimes we all focus on what we are making, and other times we will just chat away, sharing interesting things about our week. We all decide as a group each week what to work on, so everyone has the opportunity to share their ideas, and since everyone is a beginner, we can learn together, being patient and helpful to those who need to start from scratch. If you are excited about learning to crochet and want to make crocheting friends, then this is the place for you!

I'm a qualified teacher, experienced in teaching English, History, Music, and Art. I home educated my two children, who are now at university, and I have taught in mainstream schools, and in Special-Ed schools.
I have also taught piano, guitar, singing, and music theory, taking students through grade examinations.
I am experienced in teaching the British GCSEs, and through home-schooling, I taught my own children using American curriculum. I teach Language Arts, English Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Poetry - both writing, and reading, and many other fantastic and interesting topics.
I teach writing skills using the Writing Revolution techniques, and have seen students improve their writing skills rapidly using some of the techniques applied.
In addition, I worked as a graphic designer for 10 years, working from home, and offer graphic design and video editing classes, using Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and soon, Affinity creative suite.
Growth Mindset is very important in my classes, and I encourage it in all learners - Growth Mindset is the belief that even if you can't do something or don't understand something, then you CAN learn how to do it or understand it. Growth Mindset says "I can't do it YET, but I can learn." Learning happens through making mistakes, and then modifying your approach, changing what you do, to improve. I encourage all learners to try, and to feel comfortable making mistakes, because that's how we all learn.
