This is a flex class. There will be no live meetings. In this class  beginners will make a hat and matching scarf. For each of the four weeks I will upload a video demonstrating the stitches and methods needed to make the hat and scarf. Students will watch the videos, learn, and practice the stitches. They will then be able to post their questions and pictures of their progress. I will provide each student with feedback about their work.  Students will give feedback on each others color choices and techniques. All posts will be done in our Outschool classroom.  Students do not need to have any knowledge of crochet.
**This class is also available for ages 9-13

Week 1: We will begin our scarf by discussing how to measure. I will demonstrate the slip knot, the chain, and the double crochet stitch. For homework students will practice and post videos or photos of their work along with questions and comments about their work and each other’s work.

Week 2: We will continue to work on our scarf as I demonstrate the single and half double stitches.  For homework students will continue to work on their scarves and post videos and/or photos of their work along with any questions or comments they may have about their work and each other’s work.

Week 3: We will finish our scarf and begin our hat. I will demonstrate how to measure for the hat. I will then review the stitches we learned and demonstrate how to make the hat. For homework students will continue to work on their hat and post videos and/or photos of their work along with any questions or comments they may have about their work and each other’s work.

Week 4: I will demonstrate how to seam our hats in order to finish them. We will learn how to make a pompom for our hats, and fringe for our scarves. I will discuss how yarn choices and hook sizes affect your work. For homework students will complete their sets. They will post videos and/or photos of their completed work along with any questions or comments they may have about their work and each other’s work.
