1 hora por semana. Students will be responsible for coming to class prepared for the next steps in creating the bear.Experiencia de clase
This class is for the adventurous beginner crocheter. If you can make a simple square in crochet, then you can make this bear. If you have NEVER crocheted before or cannot yet make a square, keep practicing and then come back to this class. :) We will learn how to make a ball using basic shaping techniques. These techniques will help you make other stuffed animals as well as clothing in future projects. We will also learn how to read a crochet pattern together. I will be present to answer any and all questions and to show the skills as many times as you need to see them. I also provide videos so that my students can practice/continue at home with confidence. Class 1- We will learn to make a circle two different ways: The magic circle, and a chain circle. We will learn how to make increase stitches as well. Class 2- We will continue to complete rows and increases while learning how to shape a ball. We will learn to make invisible decrease stitches as well as placing the eyes. Class 3- We will finish the body, stuff the body, and learn how to create the ears. Class 4- We will finish up by cutting and gluing the felt pieces as well as attaching the ears. Please see the materials list provided in the "Materials" section.

Lista de útiles escolares
For this bear you will need: 1. Size 4 yarn (sometimes called "worsted weight). Please do NOT get fluffy or hairy yarn. I know it's tempting but you will not be able to see your stitches. 2. Size 4mm crochet hook 3. Safety eyes- Michaels has a pack for $2.99 and Amazon has larger packs for about $6.99 4. Felt in 3 colors- black, pink, and a color to match the body. If you make a brown bear get brown felt. If you make a purple bear, get purple felt. You can get a large pack on Amazon but Michaels has individual sheets for $0.49 a piece. 5. Fabric glue. You can get Elmer's clear dry glue, Mod Podge, or any other type of fabric glue that dries clear. 6. Stitch markers- crochet stitch markers are able to open. If they cannot be opened, they are for knitting. Paper clips and safety pins are also great stitch markers. 7. Yarn needle (It's just a very large needle to accommodate yarn) 8. Something to stuff the bear. You can buy stuffing at craft stores but this bear is very small. You can use a cut up old t-shirt or any kind of scraps of fabric/yarn you have on hand. (t-shirt, washcloth, etc).

For my group classes, I sometimes offer videos that I recorded for my students to be able to practice outside of class without having to watch the entire 50 minute class back. I link these videos in the Outschool Classroom page after the lesson ends.
These videos are accessed through Google Drive as Outschool currently cannot upload them directly in the classroom.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! My name is Brittany and I’m excited to help your child tap into their creative side. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art with a minor in Bookmaking. I have experience teaching adults and children of all ages in museum and summer camp settings. I also have 6 years of experience in online teaching.
I am a certified ACE educator here on Outschool which means that I have taken training to give your child the best possible learning experience in our virtual classroom. Whether we are crocheting, knitting, or making art, I want your child to have fun and feel confident in their abilities. I always want to prioritize the idea of adding “yet” when we feel overwhelmed. “I can’t do this…YET!”
I have two very serious studio assistants (cats) who like to see what we’re working on. I am also an avid reader, knitter, and crocheter. See you in class!
