  • • Learners will takeaway knowledge of key concepts pertaining to creative writing, reading comprehension, storytelling, human connection, english, the arts, etc. • Learners will be empowered to embrace creative writing and storytelling - in a multitude of forms and genres. • An ideal outlet to exercise their unique and creative voice. • An ideal outlet to practice social skills, critical thinking, and grow a deeper appreciation for language arts. • An ideal outlet to improve communication skills, focus, memory building, and vocabulary. • Appreciate teamwork, learn one of many creative life skills, and even encourage mindfulness.
Creative Writing Club is led by an award-winning / critically acclaimed screenwriter. As a SAG/AFTRA/AEA Creative Artist with over 2 decades of professional experience in television, film, live theatre, commercials, and radio - I believe that creative expression helps inspire learners to grow as individuals with increased compassion, social awareness, and the enhanced ability to celebrate diversity within their communities. I have been teaching numerous styles and elements of creative writing / acting / voice / dance, life skills, yoga (various disciplines), and meditation / mindfulness techniques to children and adults since the age of 16. In addition, I am a trained Wellness (Health) + Life Coach. Please see my Teacher Profile for additional information.

Detalles: No writing experience is necessary for this class and there are no formal assessments other than guidance. With that said, learners are encouraged to ask questions or request clarification as needed.
Learners should have a safe work space where they feel a sense of creative freedom. Learners will also need a pen or pencil and a 'creative writing club journal / notebook', OR a computer / tablet with a keyboard - to complete writing exercises and prompts. Having a water bottle handy, is always recommended as well.
Learners should have an open and safe work space where they feel a sense of creative freedom.

I do my very best to ensure all material covered in this class is age appropriate. With that said, some creative writing exercises in class are improvisational in manner, and I am mindful to not censor the students' content unless it is offensive or excessively violent.

Additionally, from time to time we do embark upon creative writing exercises that are dramatic in nature to help grow learners' skills for this style of writing.
