***NEW SECTIONS OF THIS POPULAR WEEKLY CLASS BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER! DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, A ONE-TIME VERSION OF THIS CLASS IS BEING OFFERED ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT DAYS AND TIMES. CHECK IT OUT HERE: https://bit.ly/One_Time_Class *** This class will be a fun, low-stress environment designed to help elementary-aged girls develop a love for writing by utilizing topics that many girls this age love, like unicorns, fairies, princesses, and mermaids! 🧚♀️ 🦄 🧜♀️ 👑 Ms. Price believes that learning should be fun, and she will use her skills as a certified teacher to incorporate writing instruction into a fun, interactive class! In addition to developing creative writing skills, learners will enjoy developing their social skills as they interact with and form friendships with other girls from around the world. 🌎 🦄 Topics will be learner-directed each week. 🦄 At the beginning of class, the group will choose their topic for the week by practicing conversation and negotiation skills. If the learners are not able to decide on a topic, Ms. Price will give choices, based on the ideas presented, and allow learners to vote on the topic for the week. 🎨 After the topic is selected, learners will use their imaginations and draw a picture 🎨 based on the theme of the week. Please note: This is NOT an art class, and learners do not need to have any kind of artistic skills for this class. 😉 The purpose of starting with drawing is it gets those right brain, creative juices flowing! 🧠 🖼️ After we have drawn our pictures, learners will have the opportunity to share with their peers what they have drawn. They will have the option to show their actual picture to the class or to just verbally describe their drawing (this takes the pressure off of those who are not confident in their artistic abilities). 📝 Next, Ms. Price will guide the students through taking those creative ideas and putting them on paper in written form. We will focus on using descriptive language, and Ms. Price will guide learners to add details to their stories to make them come alive! Once learners have their stories written out, they will have the opportunity to share them with the rest of the class! These classes will be kept small in order to try to provide enough time for all learners to share their completed story. However, with creative writing you never know how long stories will end up being, so it is possible we will run out of time for every learner to share their story. If this happens, the learners who did not get the opportunity to share will have the option to 1) send their story to Ms. Price after class and she will read and respond to it, 2) post their story in the classroom for all learners to see, or 3) share their story at the beginning of the next class (learner may choose which option they prefer). EXPERIENCE NEEDED: To be successful in this class, learners need to have the ability to take their thoughts and put them on paper. Learners do not need to know how to spell words correctly to be successful in this class. (Spelling words phonetically works just fine for creative writing!) Learners also do not need to use perfect grammar or punctuation to be successful. Our focus in this class is inspiring creativity in our writing, not perfect spelling, grammar, or punctuation. I offer other classes where that is the focus 😉 AGE OF LEARNERS: Based on Ms. Price's teaching experience, she believes this class will be best suited for children ages 7-11 years old who are confident writers. CLASS SIZE: Class must have at least 3 learners to proceed, as a huge part of the experience is the opportunity for girls to socialize with one another and form friendships as they create magical stories together! . . . 📚 CLASS POLICIES 📚 MUTING: I love a highly interactive class, and I do not require students to be muted in my classes. That said, if there is a lot of background noise going on in a home, I will quietly mute that learner's camera so that other learners are not distracted by the noise. The learner is always welcome to unmute to ask questions or share! REFUND POLICY: This is a weekly, on-going class. Your weekly payment reserves a spot just for your child! Just like with in-person classes or extra-curricular events, refunds are not given when your child misses class. If you will be gone for an extended period of time, you may un-enroll your learner to open up their spot for another child and re-enroll upon your return, if space is available at that time. CLASS RECORDING POLICY: When you pay for one of my LIVE group classes, you are paying for the live class, just like if this were an in-person class! I do not share recordings of my LIVE group classes in order to protect the privacy of all learners (many parents do not feel comfortable with other families having access to videos that include their child). If you have any questions about a particular class, please feel free to reach out to me at any time!
Metas de aprendizaje
🎨 Students will improve their creative writing skills through learning to use their right brain (creative side) to draw colorful pictures based off a prompt given by the teacher.
🔈 Students will improve their verbal communication skills by describing the picture that they drew to their peers and teacher.
📝 Students will improve their writing skills by taking the story that they have verbally told and putting it on paper, adding details to make it come to life! Students will learn how adjectives help bring a written story to life, the way that color brings a picture to life!
👯♀️ Students will develop their interpersonal skills as they share ideas with others, provide positive feedback to one another, and have fun connecting with other girls their age through this fun class!

Orientación para padres
Please note: The themes for this particular class are ones that traditionally elementary-aged girls enjoy, but all learners are welcome in my classes (as long as they are within the correct age range). I just want to make sure that parents are aware of the focus of this class, so that they can evaluate if it is a good fit for their learner! If your child loves unicorns, mermaids, princesses, and fairies, your child will love this class!
