1-2 horas por semana. Each week, by Wednesday 9pm PST,- -I will email each student a link that weeks lecture. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account. -I will post to the classroom a list of 3-7 questions due the following Sunday. -There will also be a list of 2-5 research topics or projects, and each student will choose one that interests them. Answers for the research topics only have to be a paragraph or two. This is also due Sunday of each week. Homework can either be sent through the communication function of Outschool (email) or posted on the classroom page. Each project is be written clearly and with any references noted. Welcome to women in history! Each week, we will take a look at 12 incredible women from history - from their childhoods and inspirations, to their accomplishments and legacies. During each of these classes we will explore a brief biography of different women in history, their life, the society and culture that shaped them, and what contributions they made in their field. We will discuss how their lives would be different if they had been born in different times and cultures and what shaped them into achieving their goals. Week 1 – Cathy Sullivan - First person to both go to space and the deepest depths of the ocean Week 2 – Maria Tallchief – American ballerina Week 3 – Joyce Chen – Chinese American entrepreneur Week 4 - Ida B. Wells - Anti-lynching activist Week 5 – Wilma Mankiller – activist, first woman elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation Week 6 – Lucille Ball – American actress Week 7 – Mary Harris Jones – Schoolteacher who cofounded the Industrial Workers of the World Week 8 – Juliette Gordon Low – founder of the Girl Scouts Week 9 – Catharine Esther Beecher – American educator and writer Week 10 – Nancy Morgan Hart – American Revolution Hero Week 11 – Maggie L. Walker – African-American teacher and businesswoman Week 12 – Agatha Christie - British novelist Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) - -I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page. - Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. - In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. - Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom. -I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class. - Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic. -Please message me before the start of class if you have any questions. This class will utilize Youtube videos for sharing of lecture videos, as well as supplemental lessons. All Youtube videos are embedded into the Outschool platform. This class may also utilize Kahoot. Learners will be given a direct link and game pin to play.

Each week, a list of homework questions will be posted to the classroom page. There will also be a list of 2-5 research/project topics that the student will choose from for that week. Both of these are due on the Saturday of that week. Students will have to do research on their own time. I will be available for questions 24-7.

I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history, organization, reading, and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.
I am also an Outschool ACE Educator, which means that I continually seek out ways to improve my teaching skills and knowledge, as well as the learner experience. Some of the seminars/courses that I have attended in the past are: Foundations for Teaching and Learning About Native Americans; The Presence and Absence of Asian America: What Truths Lie Beyond the Headlines; Using the “Diary of Anne Frank” to Amplify Students’ Voices; Painting a Just Picture – Art and Activism.
