Evaluación
As learners send me a picture of their artwork, I will comment privately about what they did well and set goals for what they can continue to practice. I will also send them a message or video and guide them in any areas they are struggling in throughout the class.

In this flex class (video only) the art learners will have an exciting opportunity to stamp and paint 3 different paintings. Art learners will learn how to make their own stamps and use them in their art pieces. The backgrounds for the painting will be painted with watercolor and I will be going over brushstrokes that are easy to follow and create fun effects. The first painting will be an under the sea scene, and we will be creating sea animal stamps and more. The water will be painted in watercolor for a cool under the sea water look. We will also make a landscape scene with flowers and tree stamps. The grass and sky will be painted in watercolor, and I will go over some easy painting techniques for painting the background in our landscape. The third painting we will work on will be abstract and I will introduce a new way to make stamps. I will be talking about abstract design and how to use the stamps that learners make to create fun art effects and designs. I will be encouraging creativity and for learners to be coming up with their own ideas and trying them out as the class progresses.

Each Monday your learner will receive a video lesson and an explanation of what to do for the week. I will have an extended learning activity for them to do too. This will be specifically directed at helping them practice what has been taught in the lesson. It will also give them an opportunity to use what they have learned and add their own creative ideas to it. I will be encouraging them to share ideas and their artwork in the midweek message on Thursdays. This will be a great learning experience on how to collaborate with other artists and use their peers' ideas to help stir their own creativity. In addition to the Thursday message, I will have question starters to help encourage discussions about the week's lessons.

Week 1 Lesson Video - making stamps. I will walk learners through step by step on how to make the stamps. I will also go over how to stamp with ink pads and acrylic paint.
Extended Learning - come up with your own stamps and try them out.
Scavenger hunt - instructions coming with the lesson.
Share your ideas - did you make any interesting stamps that you want to share and teach other learners how to make them too.
Join the discussion - on Thursday's.

Week 2 Lesson Video - painting and stamping the ocean scene.
Extended Learning - use the same brush stroke that we did to make our water and paint a sky or an abstract design.
Share your ideas - do you have any watercolor painting that you want to share and show other learners how to paint it.
Join the discussion- on Thursday's.

Week 3 Lesson Video - painting and stamping a landscape scene with flowers and trees.
Extended Learning - come up with your own realistic scene use stamps and watercolor.
Share your ideas - what other kinds of artwork can we brainstorm about that we could use our stamps in.
Join the discussion - on Thursday's.

Week 4 Lesson Video - learn a new way to make stamps and creating abstract art.
Extended Learning - create with your own ideas a painting using all that we have gone over with watercolor and stamps.
Share your ideas - attach a picture in the classroom of your abstract designs. Teach us how to do it too.
Join the discussion - on Thursday's.

Week 5 Lesson Video - using sponges to stamp with and learning a new way to create design.
Extended Learning - contact me with any questions before class ends.
Sharing your ideas - share your artwork that you are the proudest of in this class.
Join the discussion - on Thursday's.

I look forward to stamping with your art learners soon.

Orientación para padres
Please remember that an Outschool requirement is that parents are not in the camera view at any time during class. If you need to assist your learner, please make sure you are not seen on screen while assisting.
Lista de útiles escolares
- Flat Foam sheets with a sticky peel off back. If you use foam without the sticky back, then the learners will need to use a glue stick. (These will be used for every class for creating your stamps)
- Flat Foam sheets (does not need sticky back, we will use this in the 4th class) size 3x5 or 4x6 (it doesn't have to be exact, you can get larger and cut it)
- Ink pads, dark colors work the best (you can get washable ink pads) Acrylic paint can be used in place of ink pads
- One large flat watercolor brush.
- Different sizes of smaller round watercolor brushes with fine pointy tips
- Watercolor paper or mix media or painting paper 8x10 or larger.
- Stiff cardboard pieces, foam core, block of wood - suggested approximate sizes could be 2"x2", 3"x3", 4"x4"
- A sponge (with a handle works best) or sea sponge (found at craft stores)
- Pencil
- Acrylic paints (learners will need to use this for the 4th and 5th class) stamp pads will not work with this type of stamping. Acrylic paints can be used in place of ink pads.

I will send a video to parents in the welcome message and show you the supplies when you sign up your learner for class.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Grado asociado desde Portland Community College
I have taught in person art classes and online for 8 years. I have watched many learners take off in their art ability as they have learned the techniques. I have also learned these same techniques when I was taking art classes and learning to draw and have modified them to make it easy for learners to follow and apply themselves.
