Welcome to 'Create a Beautiful Landscape'! This lesson is all about PATTERNS! I created 'pattern dice' to help students think of unique patterns. Before we begin drawing, we will have a class discussion about the 5 types of lines. We will also talk about shapes and how lines and shapes together can be used to create a variety of patterns. Learners are welcome to 'roll' the pattern dice. This is a fun, interactive way to think of new ideas. Learners are welcome to share their pattern ideas with the class. Next, artists will be led through a landscape drawing. Learners will be encouraged to add interesting and unique patterns for each section of their landscape using a pencil first. Next, we outline the pencil lines using water-based markers. We will discuss warm and cool colors and how these colors can blend together when adding water to the marker lines. During the last 15 minutes of class, learners can use water and a paint brush to spread the pigment from the water based markers. A demonstration will be provided. Get ready to be creative! I'm excited to see your learner in class.
