You have all heard of horses being utilized during wars. You have probably even heard about mules used for transporting goods. However, an animal that is so far off the radar of war usefulness is the object of this class. In this class, we will be stepping back into the early 1940s when WWII was underway. An unlikely friendship is about to be formed when a small, orphaned brown bear gets adopted by Polish troops. This class will explore that bear’s role in aiding the Polish military during the war.

Objectives:
- Students will explore Wojtek and how he came to be involved in military activity.
- Students will discover how Wojtek became a vital part to the Polish army.
- Students will discuss, debate, and decide if a brown bear could be utilized in today’s armed forces.

History is really boring! 

Those words send chills down my spine! The history of the world is packed full with exciting, dangerous, disgusting, and awesome things that I have been lucky enough to learn throughout my life. My mission is to take all of those things (and the new ones I find) and expose them to the masses. 

I fell in love with history when I was seven and have not turned back. I have ten years of teaching experience in a public high school, years of experience teaching in educational programs at historic sites, and a lifetime of pursuing and exploring the most unique and fascinating stories of the world. I hold degrees in technology, history, education and education leadership and currently serve as the Principal of a really cool STEM school.   

Our mission (if you choose) is to explore this crazy world that we all share and gain inspiration from the secrets and stories that we discover along the way.
