The students will learn that there are other ways to attack the f7 and f2 squares besides the Scholar's Mate and the Fool's Mate. They will remember that f7 and f2 are the two weakest squares on the board because they are only protected by the King. The students will learn that the Queen and the Knight can make a deadly attack on the f7 square and that the Queen and the Bishop can make a checkmating move on the f2 square. They will learn to pay attention to these Danger Squares and how to defend these squares in various ways.
Metas de aprendizaje
The object of this lesson is to make sure that the students keep an eye on these Danger Squares in their games. If their opponent does not pay attention to their Danger Squares, then the student will learn to checkmate in their game quickly. The student will learn how to defend their own Danger Squares.

I am a retired public school teacher of 26 years and currently am a Supervisor of Academic Programming for the Central New York Chess organization on Outschool (https://outschool.com/teachers/CENTRAL-NY-CHESS-INC?usid=wUq7nkLS&signup=true&authTrigger=follow_teacher&follow=true&utm_campaign=share_leader_link). I have taught children and adults in Beginning and Intermediate 1 Chess classes for 23 years in after school programs, summer Chess Camps, online in my Cool Chess classes and now for Central New York Chess. I love to see how Chess helps the brain to think, to make predictions, to sequence, see patterns, etc. I love to see when a student learns how to checkmate and improves upon their game! I teach One Time Cool Chess classes and Private and Multi-Day Classes with Central New York Chess. I enjoy Art, Chess, Scrapbooking, and Travel! I hope to see you in my chess classes soon!
