Experiencia de clase

With a little bit of experimenting, I have combined two learning methods into one, both to help the learner succeed and master the Japanese language and understand the Japanese culture. This class is designed to help the student become fluent in Japanese and to understand the culture behind not only the language but also the people.

I will first put the student into a situation and then give them sentences to respond to those situations. The sentences will then be broken down into vocabulary and grammar. Each lesson will focus on one or two grammar points with more situations as examples.

In this lesson, students will be able to:

Week 1:

1. Review on how to form verbs (where the direct object marker "o" goes and the verb)
2. Learn how to say with (ex. I will watch a movie with Bob)
3. Learn how to say a place (I will watch a movie with Bob at the Galleria)
4. Learn how to combine all of this together
5. Learn Katakana ナ、ニ、ヌ、ネ、ノ

Week 2:

1. Continue to learn about the masu verbs (return, meeting, to come, and to go)
2. The particle for the word to go
3. Particle for going by train, bus, boat etc.
4. Learn the Katakana for ハ、ヒ、フ、ヘ、ホ

Week 3:

1. Review how to ask where? with who? and where is it?
2. Review how to respond to the question (with who, where, and when).
3. Review how to talk about time.
4. Learn how to read and write パ、ピ、プ、ペ、ポ

Week 4:

1. Review of everything they have learned (with who, what time, what to do, where)
-Reviewing all the particles related to this
-Learn the informal of this as well (what to put with this)

2. Learn the Katakana パ、ピ、プ、ペ、ポ

Week 5:

1. Learn how to talk about opposites (I like romance movies, but not horror movies)
2. Make sentences using what you have learned, using the hints (verbs and direct objects)(I like R and B, but do not like rock)
3. Learn about マ、ミ、ム、メ、モ.

You will get all three in one-course culture, language and the writing, probably something other classes do not delve into.

You will enjoy the powerpoint slides and optional homework. We will study in an upbeat intereactive way, something you do not want to miss.
