Learners will be given a listening guide related to the composer’s life and the music. Listening guides will include activities such as word searches, acrostic poems, drawing and more. Learners may choose how they participate, completing the listening guide or merely listening and responding to the music. Each week learners will start with biographical information, presented through PowerPoint. Then learners will listen to musical selections including audio and video examples. Texas Certificado de Docencia en Música/Teatro/Artes
Hello! My name is Mrs. McArthur and I teach MUSIC! I am a Texas certified all-level music teacher with 29 years of teaching experience, 26 years in public schools and 3 years online and homeschool experience. I have taught preschool through eighth grade General Music and Choir classes. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music from Oklahoma Baptist University.
I believe that every learner can make music! Learners need a variety of experiences to learn music skills, including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Given sequential steps, students can achieve well beyond the expectations. When creativity is modeled, learners discover that making mistakes improves music. Learners need opportunities to be creative with choices so they can create on their own terms and interests. By making connections to science, social studies, math and beyond, students learn that subjects don’t exist in isolation. Music is the universal language and learners deserve a chance to explore the world through a musical lens!
