In this one-time class we will explore colors by enjoying Eric Carle's book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" together and introduce the literacy concept for young learners of story sequencing and retelling a story. We will enjoy the book together in a story time format. Through the use of pictures, we will practice sequencing and retelling, recognizing color words, and some phonics and beginning sounds. I incorporate body movement and motions throughout the retelling of the story. We also will be singing a song to go with our story. I know your learner will already know the tune! We will first meet Brown Bear, followed by Red Bird, Yellow Duck, Blue Horse, Green Frog, Purple Cat, White Dog, Black Sheep, Goldfish, Teacher, and Children! At the end of class I give the learners hints as we go through sequencing the story for wrap up. There is a printable to download in color and cut (with parental supervision) so we can practice sequencing and retelling along with our pictures together! I can't wait to meet the children and we will have some fun with this special book.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! It is so nice to be teaching on Outschool. I am proud to be a part of this learning space. I will be teaching many different types of classes, but some examples will include math (elementary and middle school), literacy and grammar, story time, reading strategies, executive functions and so much more.
My professional background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Florida State University and over 15 years of experience in the classroom. I have also taught middle school math and loved it! I have many different experiences such as teaching ESL (English as a Second Language), tailoring instruction to differing ability levels of children, teaching executive functions to children who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, and even some pre-school experience as well.
I am a life-long learner so you will usually find me with my nose in a book while juggling 4 children from 12 to 8 months. Cooking and baking are so much fun and teaching others those skills is a joy for me. Another hobby for me is hiking and ultra-lite camping. Kentucky is my home and every once in a while I can be found looking for beautiful horses and taking my camera along to catch just the right angles and create beautiful photos of them.
A belief for me as a teacher is that all children can be successful when a teacher makes the learning relevant and reaches out to the child in the level that is understood by them. Children are amazing learners and we as adults can truly watch them soak up knowledge when material is presented in the right way!
I can't wait to see one of your kiddos in a class soon. We will definitely have some fun.
