This is an ongoing Spanish Club that meets twice a week for learners 4-6. Spanish will be spoken throughout with very little assistance in English. (90 percent Spanish) Once we put on our imaginary “sombreros” we switch our brains to learning Spanish mode. Parents and educators know that children learn language by using language to make sense of their world. Rather than relying on drills and memorization to learn Spanish, learners will participate in meaningful projects, creating puppets, following recipes, creating with play dough (plasticine), playing bingo, making pictures of their family and homes, and entering into story worlds! Welcome to ¡Club Hola! - Doble Tiempo The activities for these lessons are well-designed that integrate all 4 areas (Speaking, listening, reading, and writing). Because lessons circle back to some characters (Pepe), learners receive multiple opportunities to develop their Spanish. As an educator I use different delivery methods. I incorporate vibrant slides with gifs, realia, games, puppets, crafts, and songs. Virtual Classroom… Every two weeks new links will be posted on the virtual classroom related to the monthly theme. You will also find the welcome and good-bye songs for practice :) Learning Mats… Each week you will receive a printable learning mat with short activities you can do with your learner to reinforce Spanish at home. Starting March 11: Week March 11 - ¿Quién soy? Review greetings and introductions. Class 1: Scaffolding from general introductions to introducing a friend. Class 2: Hands-on activity: Let’s make a paper bag puppet. Week March 18 - Colores: This cross-curricular lesson in Spanish, science, and art will focus on practicing color names and creating secondary colors from primary colors. Class 1: Learners will identify primary colors: red, blue, yellow; and secondary colors: green, orange, purple. Class 2: Let’s Mix it Up! Hands-on activity where learners create secondary colors from primary colors using paint. Week March 25 - Los Numeros Class 1: Identify the numerals 1 through 20 and use one-to-one correspondence in counting up to 20 objects. Class 2: Games: Los Regalos de Pepe and Snakes and Ladders. Week April 15 - La Comida Class 1: Learn vocabulary related to food (fruit, vegetables, snacks). Class 2: Play "Chef" game: pretend to cook and order food in Spanish. Week April 22 - La Ropa Class 1: Learn vocabulary for clothing items. Class 2: Dress-up game: match clothing items to their Spanish names and describe what you're wearing. Week April 29 - La Casa Class 1: Learn vocabulary for parts of the house (kitchen, bedroom, living room). Class 2: House drawing activity: draw and label different parts of a house. ***New Schedule Posted Every Four Weeks** **Supply lists will be sent every week** LANGUAGE USE: This class is designed to engage learners in Spanish. Spanish will be spoken 90% of the time. I will introduce all learners in Spanish and explain the class rules. We will then put on our “sombreros” . We must now try to speak in Spanish. MUTING POLICY: Participation is always encouraged. My preference is to have learners unmuted, however there may be instances where learners need to be muted due to the background noise or in order to hear other learners share. CLASS EXPECTATIONS: Learners will be asked to raise their hands to ask a question or before sharing. I may also call on each learner and may do so in order that I see them on my screen. CLASS CANCELLATIONS: If a class has not met the minimum number of enrollments, it may be canceled. A message will be sent 24 hours before the class to advise.

My name is Yenny and I have been teaching languages for more than ten years. I have taught Spanish and English to learners of all ages! I hold a B.A in English Language and Literature with a minor in Hispanic Studies. I come from a bilingual household where Spanish was the first language I learned. I understand the importance of introducing a new language or retaining a heritage language therefore I am excited to introduce a variety of classes to our eager learners! I am also raising a little polyglot of my own who at the age of 4 can speak English, Spanish and French.
I look forward to meeting your learner in class :)
Nos vemos pronto!
