  • Students will gain an understanding of the careers in Civil Engineering. They will learn example jobs within those careers as well as problems those professionals solve.
I am a Professional Civil Engineer. I have a masters degree in civil engineering, specializing in structures. My professional licensure is in the transportation concentration. I have taken courses in all of the other disciplines.

Detalles: Projects will be assigned to experiment and learn the different problems that civil engineers need to solve. These are meant to be fun and hands on. Will not be graded, but results and what was learned will be discussed.
Week 2: 2 tin pans, vegetable oil, dawn dish soap, medicine dropper, spoon, paper towels, cotton balls. 

Week 3: water, measuring tape

Week 4: Play doh, kinetic sand (can use real sand/soil), small cup, straw

Week 5: lazy susan, can use a book, box or piece or paper, anything that can be spun. Small object such as a bead, pen cap, etc., cardboard

Week 6: craft sticks, glue (hot glue or craft glue), zip ties, rope, caribener and fabric (to hang weight). Options for weight: hanging scale, pennies or other coins to use as weights, plate weights
