Christmas has so many fun pieces of music associated with it. Come play a few and have fun with some piano games! We’ll decipher mystery songs, working together as a group to play the music on the piano and identify the piece. We’ll play together the chords and/or bass notes to one of my favorite Christmas songs, "Feliz Navidad," and learn a little about the man who composed it, José Feliciano. We’ll also use Kahoot to play a trivia game about one of the most famous pieces of Christmas instrumental music ever – The Nutcracker suite. Previous piano experience is needed, as we will move quickly from one game to another. Students should at least be able to identify each note on the piano by its letter name. Staff notation and chord-reading are also helpful, but not necessary experience.

Kahoot will be used in this class to play a one-time trivia game only. No account is required, just a device with a web browser that can go to the provided link.
Youtube will be used for audio sharing from the teacher's computer only, to provide an example of mystery songs should student struggle to identify them, and if time, to provide the music for a movement activity if there is time.
The music list for this class is:
Jingle Bells, Trepak and The Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky, and Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano
Lista de útiles escolares
A piano is required, and notebook paper and pencil may be helpful in deciphering mystery songs. Students may also want a separate device from their video device on which to play Kahoot.

I am a certified teacher with a Master's Degree in Music Education. I have completed all three levels of Kodaly music education training, which means that I specialize in creating sequential curriculum using folk and art music. My undergraduate degree was also in Music Education, and my major instrument was piano.
I love to teach, especially preschool group classes, piano and ukulele lessons, and anything that includes joyful music making. My favorite classroom moments are when students light up with the realization of how much they really can do. It is my hope to bring that moment of confidence to each student, so they may become lifelong learners.
When I am not teaching, I am usually crocheting, reading a fantasy book, or dancing around the living room with my family.
