The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is seen as a classic of English children's literature. In this class we will read a beautifully illustrated abridged version of it while learners draw or paint their own imaginary dream garden with the option to share their artwork with each other at the end of the class. We will also discuss the story and learners will get to answer questions on the text using interactive flash cards to practice their comprehension skills. You do not need a copy of the book to participate as I will hold it up to the screen. Please bring some paper, colour pencils, pens or paint. No prior experience needed, all are welcome.

My name is Maya and I graduated from the University of Oxford with a geography degree in 2013. Since then I have worked in the humanitarian sector for the British Red Cross and worked as a private tutor around the world. I am grateful that I can share my academic interests on Outschool and meet curious learners from around the world. I offer a variety of classes on geography, history, literature, art history, philosophy, classical civilisation and yoga. My classes are interactive and discussion based and all types of learners are welcome to come and participate.
