In this 3-week class, we will work on creating a landscape drawing using chalk pastels, pencil, and glue. This is a fun project that helps kiddos to slow down and allows them to play with different mediums together. We will use different tools and methods to achieve the desired result of our chalk landscape. Week-by- week breakdown: Week 1: Talk about tools and mediums that will be used. During our first week together, we will brainstorm and draw out in detail our landscapes- including trees, hill/mountains, water, city, etc. Whatever landscape you'd like. Week 2: We will spend our time together this week finishing up the details of our drawings and carefully adding the glue. Week 3: For our final week together, we will work on filling in the landscape drawing using chalk and/or oil pastels using only the 3 primary colors. We will combine and blend them to make secondary and tertiary colors. We will end the class discussing why we had to take each step for our final result. Why did we use these certain materials and mediums? What other things could we make using this same method?

Hi there! My name is Tessa DeForge. I live in the beautiful state of Vermont with my husband, 2 silly dogs and 2 precocious cats. I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2011 and hold a bachelor's in Art Education.
I am very passionate about education. I have taught in a traditional setting for 10 years as a 6-12 art teacher and as an early educator. I love to teach a multitude of things through art and play. Some of the classes I offer are: Art Social Group, Crochet Club, 1;1 Knitting and Crochet classes, as well as social groups, to name a few. I am always looking to expand on my class list. The skies the limit when it comes to art and I hope to have some more exciting classes up and running in the very near future.
