Each day students will learn interesting facts about different kinds of bugs through slides and/or short video clips. They will be using what they learn about bugs to create their very own clay pinch pot bug. The following is a rundown of what will be covered in each session: Day 1: Learn about insects, forming a pinch pot out of clay, and cleaning up after working with clay Day 2: Learn about spiders & dragonflies, first coat of paint on their dried pinch pot, and cleaning up after working with paint Day 3: Learn about fireflies, painting and gluing on details to finish their pinch pot bugs

Some students might find videos or photos of insects & spiders creepy if they aren't fans of creepy crawly creatures. These resources are included to inform students about interesting bug facts, which may or may not reduce some of their anxiety about bugs in general.

Day 1: Tub of white Crayola Air Dry Clay (small 2.5lbs or 1.13kg), wax paper or parchment paper, smock or old shirt, bucket/bowl of water, old towel, old pencil or wooden skewer, Optional: Items from around the house for adding texture; toothpicks, fork, straws, old comb, old toothbrush, marker cap, etc. Day 2: Surface covering, smock, cup of water, paintbrushes (1 paintbrush will suffice but having a flat brush and round brush will help with paint application and details), & 1 color of tempera paint for the base coat. Also, 2 pipe cleaners, scissors, and crafting beads Day 3: Surface covering, smock, cup of water, paintbrushes (1 paintbrush will suffice but having a flat brush and round brush will help with paint application and details), & 1 or 2 colors of tempera paint that are different from the base coat for adding texture and details, liquid glue, 3 pipe cleaners, scissors, googly eyes any size, & crafting beads.
