Module 4: Data Analysis and Interpretation - Collect data from a survey and create graphs to represent it. - Calculate the mean, median, and mode of a dataset. - Analyze real-world statistical data and present findings. Module 5: Understanding and Managing Personal Finance - Research different savings and investment options for teens. - Create a financial plan for a short-term and long-term financial goal. - Interview a family member or friend about their credit and debt management. Module 6: Basics of Sales and Marketing - Develop a mock sales pitch for a product or service. - Design a marketing plan for a fictitious small business. - Conduct a price comparison for products you use regularly. Module 7: Introduction to Personal and Business Finance - Calculate compound interest on a savings account or investment. - Create a personal budget to manage an allowance or part-time job income. - Research different types of loans and their interest rates. Module 8: Business Math in Everyday Life - Calculate the potential cost of a mortgage for a hypothetical home. - Research and compare insurance plans for different purposes. - Keep a one-month spending journal and analyze spending patterns. These optional homework assignments provide students with opportunities to apply what they've learned in each module to real-life scenarios and further enhance their understanding of business math and personal finance.
Evaluación
In-class discussions, polls, and quizzes. Teacher feedback is provided on class homework if the student submits homework in the classroom.

This course is designed to introduce teens aged 13 to 18 to the practical mathematics and concepts that are fundamental to making informed financial decisions and thriving in the business world or "real-life".

We will cover everything from foundational math concepts to understanding the principles of entrepreneurship and personal finance. Your teen will learn how to handle income and expenses, budget effectively, and even delve into the world of banking and taxes. We will practice math problems in each class. Each class will focus on math lessons pertaining to the topics.

Business Math for Teens is designed to introduce young learners aged 13 to 18 to essential mathematical concepts and skills applicable to real-world scenarios.

This course will equip students with the knowledge and problem-solving abilities needed to make informed financial decisions, understand the basics of entrepreneurship, and excel in various business-related fields.

Each class will consist of a short lecture, discussion, practicing skills through instructor-led modeling, student practice, and in-class feedback that pushes students to apply their learning in a safe and positive learning environment.

This is a full-year course. That builds content. At times we will add in a fun assessment game through Kahoot.
