Who knew bubbles are so scientific?

Using simple ingredients, students will follow step by step directions on how to make a bubble solution.
Learners will make observations, inferences and predictions on how big bubbles will get based on adding a simple additive.
Students will also record their observations and measurements of their bubbles.

I will help facilitate the experiment by giving directions, feedback and encouragement.
Additionally, I will also check in with students to gauge understanding.
My teaching is style is one that encourages engagement and collaboration. My goal is make sure that each child is recognized for their work. Also, I will do my best to draw out the quiet student.
Students will talk to each other and make observations of each other's experiments.

No experience needed.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve their science process skills such as observing, predicting, inferring, communicating.
They will learn about scientific method by conducting a science experiment that will include communicating their results.
Students will observe other students experiments.

Lista de útiles escolares
Your child will need the following supplies:

1 plastic straw
dishwashing liquid (name brand works best). (Dawn and Joy are the best)
1 cup
A measuring cup, if possible
water
corn syrup or sugar (white sugar).
spoon
ruler (optional) - but would be helpful
pen or pencil
a table that has some space to blow bubbles on. The table should have a smooth surface as possible.
(my wood table at home worked fine)
towels or paper towels in case of a spill
The Bubble Data sheet (attached).
if printing is unavailable, a piece of paper is fine
1 archivo disponible al momento de la inscripción

Greetings,

My name is Kelly and I've been a science teacher for over 20 years.
I have B.A. in Education and a Masters Degree in science education.

Although the bulk of my experience has been middle school, I've taught from Kindergarten through 9th grade.
I've enjoyed teaching the following disciplines:
physics, chemistry, biology, environmental, geology, Earth and astronomy.

I teach one time classes, weekly classes, private classes for tutoring and also teach private playdates/parties with a topic of interest.

Here are some topics I teach:

Genetics and Heredity
Atomic Structure
Physics of Roller Coasters
Bridge Building
The Science of Bubbles
Kitchen Chemistry
Human Body Systems
Climate Change
Scientific Method

My philosophy:
Science is learned best by doing!
Science is constantly evolving and there are new, exciting discoveries every day.
Working together is always key and asking questions, making inferences and developing your hypothesis makes you a scientist!

About me:
I love hanging out with my daughter, going on hikes and practicing yoga!

I look forward to seeing you in science class!

Take care,
Kelly
