In this course learners will step into the LEGO world and gain the skills needed to not only understand how a LEGO build is designed, but also how it is created. The class will be broken up into sections: Week 1: We will go through the basics of LEGO and some of the most commonly used LEGO parts, how they are connected and how to navigate BrickLink Studio. At the end of the class, learners will have a simple LEGO build that they can choose to replicate using the skill learned during the class. Week 2: We will begin brainstorming what build learners would like to create following a list of techniques that must be included in their builds, after which we will spend time as a group going through the different techniques before learners start building. Week 3: We will spend this week working on our builds and sharing with others our build choices and show off our builds in a presentation style with learners voting on their favorite builds. This course is structured to be both learning and fun in a setting that does not simulate a traditional class. My goal is for students to learn from one another and shortly after apply what has been taught to help retain the concepts learned. I will teach in the "I-do, You-follow" style, where I will have my screen shared, complete an action and then prompt the students to do the same after me, as well as provide PDF documentation that outlines what I am doing for any learner who may need a slower pace or the ability to go back and review what was done during the class.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn the fundamentals of LEGO Set building and in the end bring an idea to LEGO with the ability to order their set and assemble it at home.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have a passion for teaching classes in Programming specifically using Python as well as classes that work with building cool things! I have been working on both spaces for about 4 years now and I love the work that I have been able to do, but more importantly the students I have been able to teach and work with. I look at teaching as a way to get students excited about teaching, because if someone enjoys something, they are likely to share it with others, and that alone starts the cycle of learning that makes teaching such a rewarding field.
