Can’t get enough of the Keeper of the Lost Cities? During this class, we will discuss Book 1, Keeper of the Lost Cities, by Shannon Messenger. Please have Book 1 of the series read before class! We will discuss all aspects of the book and find out your favorite parts! How do you think it feels to be a telepath? If you were Sophie, would you feel like a human or an elf? Why? Why are they called The Lost Cities? These are just some of the questions we will discuss in this one-time class. Be sure to bring any questions you have to class so we can discuss!

P.S. If you have read more than Book 1, please don’t spoil the fun by giving away anything in future books!

I have an Escape Room about Book 1! If you want to save Sophie and Dex from the kidnappers, take a look at this listing:

Orientación para padres
This book is suggested for children ages 9 +. My class minimum age is 10. Information from https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/keeper-of-the-lost-cities-book-1 states: “Parents need to know that Shannon Messenger's debut novel, Keeper of the Lost Cities, is imaginative, well-crafted, and engaging, with a strong girl protagonist and plenty of interesting supporting characters. From the beginning, 12-year-old Sophie is in danger from forces threatened by her existence, and only gradually becomes aware of them in scary incidents, including multiple kidnapping attempts. In addition, she's traumatized by being torn from the human family that raised her and transported to the elf world to start a completely different life, and this is portrayed so effectively that it may be too emotionally intense for some young readers. With those caveats, the book has much to offer in the way of imaginative issues and plot twists, not to mention credible, appealing role models showing loyalty, friendship, and courage.” Parents should consider their child to determine if they think they are ready to read this book and join this class discussion.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
The Keepers of the Lost Cities is a series of books that are fun and interesting books to read! Because I am passionate about reading comprehension, I ask several reading comprehension questions to make sure the student is understanding the material they are reading. When the student understands the story, he or she can theorize how the story ends. Or they can theorize about why things happened the way they did in the book. I want reading to be fun, and The Keepers of the Lost Cities is a great series to have the student read and find enjoyable. I hope this will help foster the love of reading. In my previous teaching experiences, I have focused on reading comprehension with great success.
