In this ongoing book club, students will independently read one book a week from the "A to Z Mysteries series" and then gather to discuss the book and complete fun activities about the book. This book club motivates students to read all week long! Students will independently read the assigned book title each week (schedule below) outside of class. During the first five minutes of class, we will spend some time saying hello and sharing fun things about our week. We will then begin discussing the weekly book through fun and interactive activities. Some activities may include multiple-choice questions, sequencing, characters' behaviors, problem and solution, and critical thinking questions that will put your child in the shoes of the characters. The book club will end by sharing the following week's book club title, some important vocabulary words, and a prediction about the book. A printable and optional homework page will be provided based on the book. Maestría en Educación desde University of New Mexico
Hello, my name is teacher Khara.
I am currently teaching math, science, and social studies to two rotating 5th-grade classes. Both my bachelor's and master's degree in education are from the University of New Mexico, Department of Education. I am licensed in three U.S states including New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. Teaching English as a Second Language has been a passion of mine for years. I began teaching in 2010 in a brick-and-mortar setting and found a new passion for online education when I started online teaching in 2016. I have worked for multiple online companies both local and overseas, and have taught thousands of online classes in a variety of subjects (math, science, social studies, English, TESOL, and more), ages (ages 3-17), and class types (1:1, 1:4, 1:12, and even 1:60). Other things I love to do include coaching the local middle school dance team, cooking, and crafting with my children. In addition to reading, writing, and social studies, I hope to bring other fun and creative activities like dance, cooking, and crafts to the online classroom.
I take my job seriously but try to include elements of fun for the kids. I have a passion for working with children in an online setting, and I hope you will join me in my classroom.
