What do you know about the great bard, William Shakespeare? What do you think it might have been like to live while he was alive and writing his famously fabulous plays?

Join us for a literary adventure through London as we follow young Widge, a fourteen-year-old orphan and apprentice. Widge is obliged to do the bidding of an unsavory character who eventually uses him to steal William Shakespeare's new play, The Tragedy of Hamlet. Does Widge cave and steal Shakespeare's work, or does he come out on the other side a hero?

We'll enjoy this exciting story as we read together, but we'll also:

-Learn more about Shakespeare himself and the London of the 17th Century
-Join in our weekly live book discussion
-Discover intriguing background information highlighting locations, characters, and historical context
-Enjoy appropriate video tie-ins
-Perform in-class dramatic readings
-Create optional hands-on activities such as flip books, posters, memes, and other fun projects. You can build your own paper copy of the London Globe Theatre, too!

Session/Week One: Come to class and enjoy the introduction to 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒓
Session/Week Two: Read Chapters 1-14
Session/Week Three: Read Chapters 15-27

Does that seem like a lot of reading? Don't worry! You can start to read the book before we begin or speed right through it at the 3-week pace. Listening to the audio version is a great way to read, too!

Love reading? Intrigued by history? Enjoy talking about your favorite books with other kids who do, too? Join us!
