Come tour the world through great books! Join me and other classmates from all over the planet as we read exciting stories about great adventures and the people who experienced them. In this series, we’ll read one book together over the course of 4 weeks, giving you time to read and dive into the story. Included in our book club will be: -Weekly live book discussion -An engaging presentation all about the author -Intriguing background information highlighting locations, characters, and historical context -Appropriate video tie-ins -A writing project -Vocabulary review -Weekly creative projects such as mapping the country of Pakistan, making chai, and colorful art projects 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 is a fast-paced book that is not only full of adventure, it's interesting and even educational—all the best things about reading rolled into one. We'll follow smart and motivated Amal as she makes a terrible mistake that leads to indentured servitude in a culture that does not value her education or independence. How can she emerge with her dreams in tact? How will she beat the odds? You can choose to read or listen to an audio version of the book. We’ll split each book into 3 sections and read one section per week. Love reading? Intrigued by history? Enjoy talking about your favorite books with other kids who do, too? Join us!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura en Música o Teatro o Artes desde University of the Pacific
As an avid reader and student of the impact of arts and literature on culture, I bring a studied background of the places and people in 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘜𝘯𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥. My grad studies include the impact of colonialism with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity—how we understand each other through our creative expressions and cultural values and how each expression influences the other. I take a respectful view of non-Western lives and values, so we will be learning about the people, history, and land of Pakistan through the eyes of Amal, and we'll emerge with an understanding that human emotions and dreams tend to be the same all over the world.
Other than that, I am a book lover, home educator (8 students over 25 years ), author, literature grad student (University of Oxford), and story-hungry Outschool teacher. One of my greatest joys is seeing your learners spark an interest in great literature through our discussions together!
