Finding a great book and truly connecting with the characters can be such a wonderful experience. This can be made even more fun by having friends and other peers to discuss this experience with! Not only do books increase our awareness of other cultures and take our imagination to greater heights, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to formally share our thoughts in a group setting. This class is perfect for learners who are gifted readers or those who genuinely enjoy unique books :)

The goal of this book club is to provide a safe space for students to share their thoughts and views about the overall themes, characters, plot, and opinions they may have. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for them to engage their critical thinking skills and to make friends with others who share that same passion. Because the majority of this class will be discussion-based, I encourage all scholars to leave their cameras on, to use the chat feature to expand the discussion with their peers, and to ponder about what viewpoints they want to share before class begins.

In this multi-day book club, scholars will complete one section (known as a "book" in the novel) each day. Scholars will need to make sure to read the correct section before meeting (or listen to an audiobook).

Take a look at the schedule for this book below:

Day 1 (Jan 9th):
"Book 1: A Mouse is Born"
(Approx. 40 pages)

Day 2 (Jan 10th):
"Book 2: Chiaroscuro"
(Approx. 20 pages)

Day 3 (Jan 11th):
"Book 3: The Tale of Miggery Sow"(Approx. 30 pages)

Day 4 (Jan 12th):
"Book 4: Recalled to the Light"
(Approx. 20 pages)

I encourage parents to research the summary and plot points of this novel to determine if this book club is right for their scholars.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

I'm Ms. Victoria and I am so excited you are here! I am a National Board Certified teacher with a K-12 certification for Math and both Elementary and Middle School certifications for ELA (Language Arts). My joy is providing math and reading instruction along with other interesting activities and classes for elementary and middle school scholars. I look forward to sharing these experiences with your scholar and boosting their confidence in reading and mathematics, allowing them to gain peer connections, and creating a safe space for learning!

My teaching style is interactive. I love for scholars to have an input in their learning process and to share their interests, feelings, and areas they would like to see growth in. I see first-hand the effects of learning "gaps" and seek to fill them as quickly as possible through my instruction. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into more manageable steps and rethinking approaches to solving problems.
