Welcome to a Blacknificent entrepreneurship lab! Get ready for an 8-week, jam packed experience that will prepare you to start your very own business immediately. Are you ready to be your own boss? Let's go! This lab will cover a variety of business practices, necessities, insider tips, and valuable skills. Learners will be introduced to famous and successful Black/African businesses from the past to present. Videos, images, and company websites or publications will be provided for students to critically analyze glows and grows from each business. In addition, students will be introduced to African economics and governing systems and other principles that can be applied to entrepreneurship. By blending culturally relevant information and rigor, students will be ready to start a business that benefits their community. Students should expect a highly engaging environment where they can brainstorm and discuss ideas with their peers. The conclusion of the lab will be marked by a business expo where our young entrepreneurs can show off their amazing ideas. Week 1: Kwanzaa concepts and business practice; design thinking process Week 2: Marcus Garvey and the UNIA; ideation phase Week 3: Black Wall Street; customer profile Week 4: Key concepts from Kimbwandènde Kia Bunseki Fu-Kiau; customer journey Week 5: Economics with Dr. Amos Wilson; start-up costs, budgeting, and lemonade stand Week 6: Marketing; business names, logos, and business card mockups Week 7: Current Black businesses around the globe; Prototypes and peer feedback Week 8: Business Expo!

Students will need parent permission for business ideas. Students will need parental consent for padlet, google slides, docs, and YouTube. Student padlet accounts may be required, other resources will be provided by the instructor. Class topics will discuss Black and African history. Teacher will take care to approach subjects with sensitivity.

I am prepared to help learners understand the context of business as an entrepreneur myself, and can give useful tips while offering multiple perspectives on successful business operations
