Remember the days of going into a big box store and getting one of those cute samples on a napkin or in those little plastic cups? Well think of this as your little, delectable sample of preschool! These "bite size" one time classes introduce your student to a preschool setting where each class focuses on a specific color and number. But that's just the base of this class! We will incorporate other preschool skills such as basic directional skills (up, down) in a social atmosphere while using dramatic play (think squeezing cut out paper oranges to make "orange juice" while counting the oranges we put in the cup,) and art projects, games and songs to introduce students to the color and number in a variety of different ways. Each student learns their best in different ways, so in my classes I focus the topics (on one color and one number) but present them in a variety of ways to improve retention.  

So, what is in THIS specific class? This class focuses on the color pink and the number 4. The class starts with a color song set to a familiar tune to introduce the color-pink. We will talk about and show a favorite pink item the student has in their house in a show and tell setting. We will do a search for the number of the week-4 and practice writing the number 4 using proper pencil grip. We will do a dramatic play ice cream shop to incorporate the concepts. Students will crumple up pink sheets of construction paper or tissue paper to make ice cream balls which will then be counted as we pretend to make ice cream cups or cones. We will also do an ice cream themed pom pom bag where students count pom poms as ice cream scoops.

Ice Cream Dramatic Play:
* 4 pink pieces of construction paper or tissue paper
* An ice cream scoop or spoon (optional, but fun to try to balance the "ice cream" on)
* A play or real bowl for students to put their "ice cream" scoops in

Ice Cream Sensory Bag: (we will assemble these during class time)
*Printed "Ice Cream Shoppe" PDF
*Gallon size plastic bag
*A clear liquid-- clear, inexpensive hair gel, or clear hand soap or shampoo or body wash, or clear aloe gel, or even water! (We will fill the bag with this so the pom poms are suspended in it and can be moved around to stack the pom poms.)
*4-16 pink pom poms, or buttons..something small and round
*Tape
