**What will be taught?** This course will cover the fundamentals of biochemistry, including the introduction to biochemistry, macromolecules, and organic molecules. The course will delve into the structure and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, and explore their importance in living organisms. **Topics to be covered:** * Introduction to biochemistry and macromolecules * Review of basic chemistry concepts * Organic molecules and macromolecules * Carbohydrates: structure, functions, and reactions * Lipids: structure, functions, and reactions * Proteins: structure, functions, and misfolding * Nucleic Acids: structure, functions, and examples * Properties of water * Enzymes: role, activation energy, and regulation **How is the class structured?** The class will involve a combination of lectures and in-class discussions, activities, and presentations. The instructor will use Canva to present slides and provide interactive learning experiences.
