Welcome to The Painting Panda Classroom: (FLEX CLASS) Watercolor Animals Part 7 of a 12 class series! Where we'll create, bend and wave our brushes like bamboo, and learn our own styles within the realm of Watercolor! This is a Flex class, meaning NO LIVE CLASSES, you sign up and then watch the videos as your schedule allows, participate in the classroom discussion, communicate with other classmates by commenting positively on their art once posted to the classroom, and ask any question you want, and share your work as you complete each project. With this class you don't need to have much knowledge about watercolors, as the techniques we'll be practicing will help give you a basic to intermediate level knowledge of watercolor by the end of class. We will be using various techniques to learn to paint different types of animals/ insects. Watercolor is relaxing, reflective, and persuasive when it comes to painting mediums and I encourage such creativity with zen like background music for each class. With many ways to "do watercolor" I've decided to include a few with techniques, practice sessions, as well as examples of what we'll be doing, then step by step painting instructions for each class. This class theme is Ocean Animals. Each week we'll learn how to draw and paint different Ocean animals with watercolor. Yes, we draw with brushes when you learn from The Painting Panda Teacher. Each week we'll cover a new type of watercolor technique, so that in the end of class students will know at least 4 different watercolor techniques, how to paint 4 different Ocean animals, and learn trade secret tips along the way. Week 1: We will be covering the following: Dolphin Week 2: We will be covering the following: Sea Turtle Week 3: We will be covering the following: Whale Week 4: We will be covering the following: Shark I will post my instruction videos, my step-by-step videos by week each Monday no later than 5pm EST. Tuesday is our tip video day. Wednesday is our specified peer interaction day that I help encourage through any of the following means: games, trivia, video chatting with peers, ice breakers, animal fact quizzes, interactive classrooms, etc. On Thursdays I'll check into class to see how everyone is doing through specific questions I post to the classroom. For this class I have created an interactive classroom specifically designed to help give students more interaction with each other and myself outside of our painting project. The classroom will have a variety of video clips I've created, found on youtube, or Q&A, FAQs I've created. Parents please read the parent guidance section for this class, as students will need your approval to participate with this classroom. Friday is our Art submission day, this means that students upload an image or video clip of their art work directly to the classroom, and then comment on at least one other classmate's art in a polite, positive manner. I will do a video about how to offer supportive, encouraging, but meaningful advise from classmate to classmate. On Fridays I'll check into class to see finished projects from students (that they have uploaded to class), and give simple feedback. I will not be doing formal assessments during this time, but rather teaching students how to have positive peer led opportunities. This is of course optional if there is a student that really doesn't feel comfortable doing so, however it is also highly encouraged with this type of participation. I do also give my own engaging words of wisdom, tips, and praise to each individual student who shares their art in our classroom. Sunday's are my off days, and I won't respond to anything on this day. This is of course based off my location in North Carolina USA in the EST zone. For weeks that different supplies are needed (generally something around the house like a sharpie or salt) , I'll post a separate supply list video on Friday along with the regular videos.
Metas de aprendizaje
Each week you will learn how to paint step-by-step each animal/ insect listed. No previous skills with watercolor needed, as I'll post how to create everything needed for each animal/ insect.

Orientación para padres
Hi parents,
I have created a really fun interactive classroom through google sheets for one of our extra parts to class. This classroom has images of my own watercolor art that the students get to click on for a fun game or video. The videos are links to youtube videos (some are my own, and others are from kid friendly watercolor themed resources). I have done everything on my end to remove ads, however if you need to do something on your end to remove ads, or stop other videos from playing after the initial one I have linked please have those settings already in place, otherwise you can view along side your child. This is an optional extra your child can participate in, that is really fun.
Parents I have very important rules, directions and instructions in the very first post in the classroom after you sign up a student, please read them with your student so you understand what my expectations are.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
This has been one of my more popular classes I've offered to my local Homeschool group, local community during the summer, and even with my adult private lessons. I have been teaching watercolor classes on Outschool for 2 years now, live and flex. I love teaching watercolor, it's a fun fluid medium where you can be incredibly creative. My favorite part about teaching art classes is when I get to see the world through the eyes of the students by viewing their interpretations of the assignments I give them in class.
As mentioned in my teacher profile I have 10 years of experience teaching early education pre-K classes, in both North Carolina and Utah. I have been able to use my degrees in Visual Arts with a focus on Art History from NCSU and my Associate in Arts from Wake Tech Community College, to teach kids and adults: various art classes here in North Carolina for the past 7 years. With my scouting connections I have had 5 years experience teaching science and history classes in North Carolina and Florida. Whether it was as a Co-Op teacher for my local home school groups, Art merit Badge Counselor for the local Boy Scout clinic, teaching STEAM classes for Cub Scouts, Nail art and Jewelry Crafting to teenage girls in my church, or summer art classes through my business, The Painting Panda, I love being able to share what I have learned!
