Experiencia de clase

During the 4 weeks this class is available, dancers will learn and review the basics of Ballet & Dance. The class is available for 4 weeks and each week will look slightly different while also including a bit of each of the following: technique, creativity, free movement, and activities/challenges. The students will interact with each other as well as the teacher by posting pictures and videos of themselves as well as some of their projects/activities in the classroom on Outschool. Students are asked to comment on these photos/videos of their peers with what they like about their project.

Since this is a Flex Dance class, students can fit in the informative video (which will be posted on Monday of every week) into their schedule whenever is convenient for them. There will be short activities that will be done outside of class as well. Those activities are intended to be posted in the classroom by Friday leaving enough time for interaction from the instructor and other students.

Week 1: Video Instruction (posted Monday) will include a short silly dance warm up, stretching, and our positions of the feet and demi plies and releves in each of those positions. Following the video, there will be a worksheet that is a "Position Scramble." Dancers will color and then cut and paste the positions of the feet in order from First to Fifth and then share the finished product in the classroom by Friday. Students will comment on each dancers Position Scramble with a compliment about their designs and completed project.
*Quiz of all that the dancers learned in the video recording*

**Our stretch chart will be introduced in the first week. Dancers will be encouraged to receive 3 "Check-marks" for each stretch per week meaning the dancers should be stretching 3X per week. This will encourage the dancers to increase their flexibility. Students are asked to post pictures of themselves stretching as well as a Friday Follow-up of their stretch chart progress. By seeing their peers stretch pictures, the dancers will feel motivation to stretch themselves to earn as many check-marks as possible! We will have different awards at the end of our 4 weeks for the dancers regarding their stretch charts**

Week 2: Video will include a new short silly dance warm up, stretching, and our technique of the week. Week 2's video will teach dancers Sautes and Passes and the different positions and ways we can do them. Following the video, I will encourage dancers to increase their flexibility by going 1-2" further each time we stretch. We will have an additional video this week where the dancers will find things wrong with some of the techniques done by the instructor. There will be 10 things for the dancers to find "wrong" in the video. Each dancer will be asked to find 1-2 things wrong in the video, but each dancer needs to find a NEW thing wrong. Eg. "Her foot is flexed on her tendu" can only be commented once. Comments on the video must be submitted by that Friday.
* I will ask the dancers to post a follow-up of their stretch chart each Friday!

Week 3: Video will include a a faster more jazz based warm-up and stretch. Following our stretch, we will learn a couple of steps that will be used in the learner's assignment. The assignment of week 3 is to take 4 steps and make-up their own little dance. The dance can be as long as a minute but a minimum of 20 seconds. Each learner will post this video in the classroom. After the dancers have posted their videos, their peers will compliment them on one - two things they enjoyed about their video (Song choice, pretty movement, smiling face, etc.)
* I will ask the dancers to post a follow-up of their stretch chart each Friday!

Week 4: Video Instruction posted Monday: after a quick warm-up and stretch, the instructor will post a short routine that the students will be expected to learn. If the students are more comfortable watching a recording while performing (and recording using a different device), that is okay! I will just highly encourage the dancers to perform the routine without assistance! The dancers will have all week to learn and try to perfect the dance. Once perfected as best as they can, the dancers will post it in the classroom by that THURSDAY to give students time to watch each video. Students and Instructor will give positive feedback to each dancer on Friday. Each student will be asked to give at least 1 comment on each dancer's video.
*Quiz of all that we have learned in the 4 weeks of the video recordings*
* I will ask the dancers to post a follow-up of their stretch chart each Friday!

We will have an OPTIONAL live meeting on the last Saturday or Sunday of the 4 weeks depending on what works for the most amount of learners. I will also post a video of who receives which award just in case the optional live meeting can't be attended.

During our optional live meeting we will give away awards, do our dance together, and overall encourage each other to keep dancing!

*Instructor will be the only one allowed to provide any technical (Ways to improve) feedback of the dancer throughout this course*
**There will be additional coloring pages, word searches, and fun activities posted throughout the 4 weeks that will be optional. The above activities will be more mandatory because they are important to the integrity of this course.

I teach Movement classes in studio and online as well! I have been teaching dance for 15+ years to all ages (18months - adult) as well as Fitness classes to kids and adults. Dance has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I love bringing that passion to others. I've worked with young and old, special needs, low-impact or injured, wheel-chair bound, and all others!

I believe that Dance/Movement is a rare "sport" that is all-inclusive; gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, emotionally stimulating, builds self-confidence, improves discipline & listening skills, and much more.

My family consists of my super supportive husband, my oldest daughter (8) youngest daughter (6), and then the littlest one is 3years old, but he was born 3-1/2 months early. We spent a significant amount of time in the NICU in the city we live in and are forever grateful for modern medicine! Our life has been a rollercoaster and, as crazy as this sounds, I wouldn't have it any other way... mostly. haha!

Being a mama myself, I try to be flexible with my schedule and appreciate the understanding from parents as I navigate our medically complex son's needs as well as two active girls!

I offer discounts to siblings, love to work with groups that want to dance together online, and I am always willing to work with you on group discounts, multi-class discounts, and one-on-one private lessons!
