I will be explaining each element of the presentation whilst allowing students time to ask questions and have short discussions on the topics. Class Structure: Each lesson focusses around a central topic so that we can do deep dive into learning and understanding each concept thoroughly. We explore many different examples of photography work under each theme through discussions and hands on experimentation with our cameras. Each lesson begins with students sharing their mini photo project images from the previous classes homework for discussion. Short & enjoyable re-cap quizzes are included of content from the previous class so students can see the progress of their knowledge. Classes end with an acclaimed photographer review which involves learning about a variety of famous photographers from throughout history and analysing their photographs and techniques/process. Projects: This course includes 6 mini projects and one major project: The mini assignments require students to take some photos around a new theme presented in each lesson, which are to be shared with the class the following week. The major project is appointed in week 6 and involves creating a photography series around a theme chosen by the student. Ongoing support will be given to students to create this work, and present it to the class in the final class in week 8. These projects are designed to encourage students to further engage with the photographic content they are learning each class, and inspire them to experiment with their own creative ways of making photos. By sharing their photos each class students are able to share their experience of making the photos, as well as practice using new photographic terminology and concepts and sharing positive feedback with one another. Class Size: This course’s maximum class size is 6 students so that learners have a better chance to be part of an in-depth small group experience which also results in more and more one on one support time. About me: I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who encourages curiosity and engagement from my students. I completed a Bachelors Degree in Design & Visual Arts majoring in Photography and Film, and have worked for 7+ years as a professional photographer and videographer. My work includes imagery from portraits to landscapes, as well architecture and still-life. Some examples of my work can be found at pariscurno.com Learning is ongoing love of mine, which has transferred on to my love of teaching! My classes are designed to encourage curiosity in students as a way of exploring new ideas and understandings. I am a passionate educator who likes to incorporate fun projects & quizzes into classes, to better engage students and immerse them in enjoying learning! 💫 Beginners welcome: No prior knowledge of photography is needed! Students who have done photography before may also learn something as we go in depth into each element of the exposure triangle. Important Info: ⭐ Each student will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera that can be put into manual mode so they can learn how to take full control of it. ⭐ While it is understandable that some students may want to talk less than others, a willingness to participate is essential in this course as we will spend a lot of time engaging in discussion about photography, as well presenting mini projects to the rest of the class. ⭐ It is highly preferable for students to have their cameras on so both myself and fellow students find it easiest to engage with one another. ⭐ Students may want put aside at least 45 mins a week for homework ⭐ Advancing your learners knowledge: This course is the first in a series of ongoing photography classes. On competition of this course students can move onto the Intermediate and Advanced courses.

⭐ Each student will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera that can be put into manual mode so they can learn how to take full control of it. This mean you can adjust the ISO, shutter speed and aperture. The learner will also need a functioning lens, memory card and camera battery. Some good beginner examples include the Nikon D3500 with 18-55mm lens or the Canon EOS M50 Mark II + 18-55mm lens or any Canon Rebel series. If you are unsure if your camera has a manual exposure mode, you can check the camera instruction manual, or feel free get in touch with me! ⭐ Learners will need to ensure they can successfully transfer images from the cameras’ memory card to their computer or tablet as students will be sharing images from photography projects to the class. This can usually be done through a memory card slot on a computer, a memory card reader or with a dedicated cable for the camera which may have come in the box when you bought it. Please make sure your learner can upload photos to their device prior to commencing classes. ⭐ I will be giving a tutorial on how to edit photographs in Week 7. For this demonstration we will be using a free online photo editing website called pixlr.com
