In this one time class students will practice for competitive spelling bees. The small class format will be run like a national spelling bee. Students will receive a spelling list ahead of class. During class students will be tested for spelling accuracy and immediate feedback and strategies will be given for words that they miss during the practice bee. If students choose to take this class more than one time, new spelling word lists will be given for each class. Spelling words will range...
- Students will practice for classroom, school-wide, regional, or national level spelling bees in a format similar to competitive spelling bees.
I'm a former Spelling Bee champ :) with extensive study in etymology. Additionally, my experience teaching in special education classrooms gives me a great deal of experience in making academic subjects fun and accessible in a variety of ways to all learners.
