YouTube is used in order to show the recipes and how they should be made. For the ingredient list, child-friendly links from Google are used. Other resources that are used are Edpuzzle to show aspects of cooking, plus ABCya! to play food games. No account is needed for Edpuzzle and ABCya! Dr. Donna shows the learners with screen share. The class is not conducted mostly with YouTube. A brief YouTube video is screen shared in order to give learners the opportunity to see how the meal should be prepared and how the finished meal should look. Cooking supplies that come in handy are the ingredients of the food for each week, plus a fully working kitchen (although this class has been able to be done with a learner's family that did not have a working stove). It is possible to find recipes that accommodate baking, or refrigeration rather than stovetop cooking. Other supplies that may be needed depending on the recipe would be a blender and/or mixer, cooking utensils, plus an apron would be recommended, however, is not required as long as you are wearing clothing that you do not mind potentially getting messy with the cooking. Other supplies that are needed are mixing bowls, measuring spoons, measuring cups, saucers, pots, pans, frying pans, oven trays, etc., depending on the recipe that is used. Some learners' families will also use their microwave for quick cooking and warm-up. It is extremely important to have an adult with you in the fully-equipped kitchen where the cooking lessons will be done. You will also need oven mitts and anything protective to wear when touching food that is hot.

This class will help you to become a child star with cooking. It's a cooking class. Since it is an ongoing class, I'll cover our agenda for the first six weeks of the class:

The class continues! And onwards!
Welcome to Dr. Donna's kitchen! From my kitchen to yours, each week will have a different meal for us to explore in the class and enjoy learning how to cook! You can help your family learners with meals from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, and potentially even make your own meals for school either at home or at the schoolyard. The learners will interact by us eating the meals together, asking questions of the teacher, plus of other learners, and also receive two free eBooks from the teacher that are also written by the teacher when you attend class either in sequence or four classes minimum in total. I watch you prepare the meal as though watching a cooking show, where you are the star, learner! You will also receive a special visual novel video game made with RPG Maker once you complete the class!
The teacher will be the director of your kitchen preparing meals, guiding from online. This gives you all the limelight to be a child star chef. We will also be going over safety, food safety, and clean-up in each class. We'll also have a lot of fun! I'll be right in my own kitchen and encouraging you and guiding you along with your parent(s)/guardian(s).

Please note: For learners that have allergies and/or are vegetarians, accommodations to the cooking meals done each week are encouraged for you to make with your family present for the cooking classes according to your needs. You can also be resourceful in finding ingredients for the recipes. I also teach that most people, of course, depending on the recipe, do not need to follow a recipe exactly.

Please note: If you're concerned about the expenses for the food for this class, using food co-ops, food gift cards, food from friends, family, and neighbors will help to alleviate the expenses of the food.

Please also note: You will also receive children's worksheets with cooking recipes in this ongoing class.

Please note: If you have meal suggestions for this class, please contact me and I'll try to include your suggestions.

Please note: Once you become an advanced child superstar chef, we can write recipes in class and have you prepare those recipes in other classes.

Orientación para padres
Safety and privacy are Outschool's top priorities, as well as the teacher of this class. With this in mind, parents are advised that there could be potential hazards, including the use of a stove, oven, knives, or other tools needed while cooking. Another alert to families is possible allergens such as nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy. All of this information is meant to prepare you and your family, and the learner, plus to make an informed decision about whether to enroll in this class. It is highly recommended that a parent/guardian be present during this class.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I started making meals and cooking as a young child enjoying being in the kitchen. I cooked for myself on a number of occasions while I was in high school, and as an adult, turning mid-century next year, I have been the primary person responsible for my meals and I've cooked everything from cheesecake from scratch to Turkish stews, to chocolate chip banana bread, plus slow cooking chicken and salmon where the latter two can take three hours.
I have been cooking since my late teenage years and also worked at a buffet place, plus a juice stand. I will be 50 years old this year.
