Each week learners will make a new sweet treat along with me. We will first introduce ourselves, wash our hands, and be sure everyone has the necessary ingredients. I will be baking along with the students, going step by step through the instructions. Adults are expected to be supervising the student as necessary and putting desserts in/out of the oven and helping with electric mixers as necessary. If we have spare time during class, students and the teacher will talk about other experiences we've had baking, what other food items we'd like to learn to prepare, and who we'd like to share the finished dessert with. If dessert is not completed before the class ends, students will be given detailed instructions for how to properly finish it for a delicious result. Students are not required to have prior baking experience, but those with less experience may need more adult supervision. Here is our schedule: • Week 1 (October 28): Brownies (all-purpose flour, white sugar, cocoa powder, brown sugar, salt, butter, eggs, vanilla extract) • Week 2 (November 4): Snickerdoodle cookies (shortening or butter, white sugar, eggs, all-purpose flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon) • Week 3 (November 11): Chocolate chip cookie bars (all-purpose flour, chocolate chips, butter, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, baking powder, salt) • Week 4 (November 18): Cinnamon streusel muffins (all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, butter, baking soda, baking powder, white sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract) • ***No class November 25*** • Week 5 (December 2): Chocolate chocolate chip muffins (all-purpose flour, white sugar, powdered baking cocoa, baking powder, salt, milk, vegetable oil or butter, eggs, vanilla extract, chocolate chips) • Week 6 (December 9): White cupcakes (all-purpose flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, eggs, frosting of choice)
