Grado de EE. UU. Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Day #1- Busy Bees and Other Bugs: Learners will classify bugs into two categories, insect or spider, by learning the anatomy of each. They will learn how a bee tells other bees where to find the best pollen by practicing to do a waggle dance, just like the bees. Students will learn a few bee jokes and how to draw a bee in their own sketchbook/ scientific journal.

Day #2- How Do Plants Grow: Whether you are enjoying new spring shoots or fabulous fall leaves, we will observe the characteristics of leaves together while making leaf rubbings. We will discover how plants eat through a process called photosynthesis and the valuable roles plants play in our world. The concepts of photosynthesis will be reinforced through experiments that show "how leaves drink" and "how leaves breath".
To make leaf rubbings learners will need to bring to class 3-5 fresh leaves, white paper and wax crayons.

Day #3- The Lifecycle of a Frog: From the birth of tadpoles in the spring to fall hibernation, students will learn the four stages of a frog's life cycle, where frogs live, what frogs eat and the difference between warm and cold blooded animals. Students will learn a few frog jokes, make a lifecycle wheel and learn how to draw a frog in their own sketchbook/ scientific journal.

Day #4- Bats the Only Flying Mammal: Fact or Opinion. Bats are scary?
We will discover that the people of Austin, TX were scared of bats until they leaned the truth about them. To learn these truths we'll look at how bats live, the anatomy of a bat and learn about echolocation. Did you know that bats have five fingers and arms and legs like us? What kind of bats live around you? Learning the differences between mega-bats and micro-bats will give you some clues about what bats may be living around you. Some of the vocabulary words we will learn are: pup, colony, roost and nocturnal. To end our class students will learn how to draw a bat.
Bugzy, our classroom rabbit, will be in class. He has some jokes he'd like to share with everyone.

Metas de aprendizaje

We will practice writing, cutting and listening skills while learning to draw, make crafts and learn fun and interesting facts.

*I have been diagnosed with cancer and will not be taking enrolments at this time.

I am an Early Education Teacher of 20 years and informal ESL Teacher. I strive to make lessons engaging and interactive. My experience teaching both in Canada and overseas has allowed me to see diverse classrooms and teaching situations. I homeschooled my own kids and know that it can be a challenge to schedule in everybody’s academic and social needs while giving them opportunity to develop their own unique talents. My three kids are grown now. One is working in the film industry, another is studying nursing and another is working in recreational sports. I want to support families, like you, who are learning at home.

When I’m not teaching I enjoy working in the garden and growing my own food.
Bye! I’m off to the garden! See you next time!
