This is a discussion style class in which I will talk about my personal experience advocating for myself and other autistics. I will share my own experiences and give the students a chance to tell us about any time they have advocated for themselves or wished that they could. We will talk about how to disclose your diagnosis to get support when needed, and how to request accommodations, and what accommodations you may want to ask for based on your individual needs. This class is designed to help students gain the self-confidence needed to advocate for themselves and others. I ask that all students are aware of their autism diagnosis or the possibility they may autistic if they do not have an official diagnosis.

I have also advocated for children I was a community support worker or classroom aide for in order to make sure they got their unique needs met in school, at youth group, and in various other situations.
