This is an ongoing art class filled with fun, colorful, and simple art projects that will encourage young children to become confident in using their creativity to construct their own art creations. Art projects will vary each week and will involve skills like these: 1. Drawing 2. Painting 3. Cutting and Pasting 4. Coloring There are no prerequisites required to enroll your learner in this class. It is extremely beginner friendly and projects are focused on giving your child an opportunity to express themselves socially by talking with friends and artistically by creating simple and fun projects that won’t frustrate them. In the beginning years, art should be fun and meaningful to the child’s development. Art can be created with just about anything - all is needed is a willing mind and an open heart and imagination. In this class, my goal is to guide learners through a fun art experience each week. I want them to grow to love their art collections, and I want them to be confident in explaining what they have created to others. I hope to achieve this goal by encouraging the art "process", rather than the "finished product". So if you're looking for an art class where your child can interact socially with their friends while completing simple art projects, this is the class! •••••• Basic Art Supplies to Keep on Hand To prepare for the ongoing weeks in this art class, I recommend to buy or collect these basic art materials so that you always have them ready to go, but keep in mind this is not an exhaustive list. There may be other specific materials that I will request you bring to specific classes. You will know these materials at least a week in advance to allow you plenty of time to retrieve them. 1. Construction paper (variety of colors), Water Color Paper, Sketch Paper 2. Gift tissue paper (variety of colors) 3. Newspaper 4. Cotton balls 5. Colorful Pom Pom balls 6. Liquid white glue and glue stick 7. Scissors 8. Markers, Color Pencils, and Crayons (Crayola is a great brand!) 9. Oil Pastels 10. Watercolor Paint (I highly recommend the Crayola brand because the colors are much richer.) 11. Washable paint (Crayola - at least the colors yellow, blue, red) 12. Sidewalk chalk 13. Paintbrushes 14. Paper plates, cups 15. blue, painters tape 16. Q-tips 17. Ticeronda Pencils (these are the best in my opinion because when drawing, they are much softer in appearance) 18. Stickers (any kind, different sizes) 19. Hi-Polymer white erasers (the best at erasing crayon and color pencil) 20. yarn 21. Craft sticks (plain or variety of colors) 22. pipe cleaners 23. glitter, paper confetti 24. Mini white canvas' 25. their favorite coloring book! 26. artist's apron or an old t-shirt (for painting projects OR just to give your child a boost of confidence that they ARE artists!) You don't have to buy all of these before class. This is just a list to give you an idea of materials we may use for projects. I will always send out a pictured list of materials for the upcoming week's art project in enough time for you to gather everything. Also note: Children may need parental assistance when we are working with paint, glue, and scissors. ***The new SPRING schedule will be released in March!*** In the meantime, here's a peek at our most recent completed project schedule for the 2020 Fall semester. I will always send out a pictured list of materials for the upcoming week's art project in enough time for you to gather everything. Also, I am not an affiliate of Crayola. I am not advertising on behalf of them. I have used their products with my students for years now and they are simply the BEST that I have found and used yet.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hi and Welcome to Ms. Tessa’s Classroom!
I'm Ms. Tessa, and I am so excited to meet you! I am a teacher-author, 13-year veteran teacher, and a homeschool mama of 11 years. I have 5+ years of online teaching experience with grades kindergarten-5th grade. I specialize in literacy education and am the founder and head of school at a Texas private school.
I am so very passionate about what I do as an educational leader. I believe that language and literacy is the foundation for all learning; thus, it is imperative that your child experiences a quality, literacy and language arts education to set them up to succeed in all other subject areas.
My Educational Background and Aspirations:
I have a Child Development Associate, an Associates in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Foundations, a TESOL certification, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in special education, religion, and general k-12 education.
My ultimate goal is to help children become confident readers, speakers and writers. We will grow together, learn together, jump over hurdles together, and reach goals together.
Fun Stuff about Me:
I love singing. I love spending time with my family. I love watermelon and cherries in the summer. I love listening to music and dancing at random times during the day (even when my kids think I'm weird and walk away). Sometimes I love long car rides, but only if the kids are on their best behavior.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in my online classroom!
Ms. Tessa
