Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 6 - 8
Nivel Beginner - Intermediate
As a certified teacher, I will help your child build their reading and writing skills!

This weekly class is built to suit the academic needs of students ages 11-14.

Each week, we will read a new text. Most passages will be nonfiction, with a fictional passage here and there.

We will read the passage and work on two or more of the following activities:
-Annotating the text
-Vocabulary
-Central Idea and Text Evidence
-Writing
-Answering Standards-Aligned Questions

We will likely not have time to complete each activity within the class period, so I will choose the activities each time that best fit the needs of students in the class.

If parents want their student to complete a homework assignment outside of class, I will be assigning one activity each week, but this is OPTIONAL.

I have authored all of the passages that we will be reading and discussing, and there are no political or controversial topics. Some of the articles we will be reading are:

Week of 8/12: Volcanoes

Week of 8/19: Sea Turtles

Week of 8/26: The Rock Cycle

Week of 9/9: Modes of Transportation

Week of 9/16: The Day the Storm Came Through (fictional--a story about a girl and her sister escaping a storm)

Week of 9/23: Ancient Egypt

Week of 10/7: The Amazon Rainforest

Week of 10/21: Harriet Tubman

Week of 10/28: Trick-Or-Treating: Should there be Age Limits?

Week of 11/4: Bengal Tigers

Week of 11/11: The Gate (fictional--a story about a lion's gate being left open at the zoo)

Week of 11/18: Thanksgiving Traditions

I have many other passages I have written, and I will continue to add more. I will always share topics ahead of classes, so parents can decide whether or not they want their child to read them. I will not be discussing controversial or political topics though.

If students have questions outside of class, I am happy to answer and will respond within 24 hours during weekdays and within 48 hours on weekends.
